Hidden Gems: Meet Adrian Peace of Revolucent Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Peace

Hi Adrian, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Everything began with music. I come from a musical family and I began writing at a young age. Today I’m a hip hop and r&b artist turned entrepreneur, but always an artist first and foremost. In 2015 I began an creative collective with one of my best friends who is now a cinematographer in the DFW area. The collective, REBELLIOUSOCIETY saw plenty people come and go over the years but by 2020 we had around 12 members, 3 podcasts, 4 music artists and a couple of visual artists with us, but the pandemic somewhat sent everyone in their own direction. Over the years I’d accumulated a lot of skills and equipment, so in late 2020 I decided we should take what we know and make a more intentional business out of it, and that’s how my media production/ creative solutions company Revolucent Media was born.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If the road was smooth I don’t think I’d even trust that road. I’ve grown accustomed to having struggle present in everything, but I believe overcoming adversity is the only way to create excellence and resilience and build faith. I come from a place where it’s not common to see examples of someone being a successful entrepreneur legally, and it’s not common knowledge that there are so many different ways to achieve financial freedom or make a dream come true. I quickly decided school wasn’t really for me, so if not for my parents both being entrepreneurs and creatives I don’t know where I’d be today. I saw many peers and relatives incarcerated, fall victim to drug addiction or alcoholism, or just remain stuck in other non-progressive cycles, but I’ve always felt God had other plans for me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Revolucent Media?
Revolucent Media was born out of my experience with my artist collective REBELLIOUSOCIETY. Our brand name is a portmanteau of two words ‘revolution’ and ‘lucent,’ which symbolizes our commitment to shedding light on innovative ideas and capturing moments that inspire and transform.
We offer photography, videography, film, and other creative solutions. I know the conventional wisdom is to pick a niche or just stick to one or two disciplines, but I’ve never understood not just doing everything if you can do it at the same level of excellence as someone who just has that one specialty. We do portrait photography, weddings, events, real estate, product photography; we shoot music videos, films, commercials. If we don’t believe we can exceed our client’s expectations one way or another we just won’t take the job.
I’m proud of how far we’ve come from the days of just me and my friend Jordon sharing my Canon t3i back in 2014, but we haven’t even seen the tip of the iceberg in terms of where I want to take it. There are so many more stories out there that deserve to be told and precious moments to be captured and we want to facilitate that on a much larger scale going forward.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
It can be difficult doing business with friends, or continuing doing business with your first 2 or 3 clients even after you’ve grown beyond where you were when they started with you, so it’s important to set boundaries and structure in your business. Secondly it’s important to know yourself, and equally as important to know your business, so don’t take branding for granted or distill it to just a name and a logo. And lastly just believe in yourself, especially when it seems like no one else does. You have to build up faith in yourself and that’s done by pushing through during the times when business is slow, you feel completely alone, or feel unprepared. I’ve done hundreds of shoots at this point and I still get nervous before arriving on location. You’re not always going to feel ready, and that’s fine. Do it scared.
