Hidden Gems: Meet Alex Cochran of Wild Child Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Cochran.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Wild Child Photography was born shortly after my own son came into the world. After taking photos of him in a bluebonnet field on a sunny Texas spring day, I knew I wanted to capture the beauty of other little ones and their families. Since then, I’ve helped families curate memories of their babies and loved ones through photography.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a new mother and someone who also works a day job, it can be difficult to juggle everything. I find myself editing photos during nap time or after my son has gone to bed. I try to keep a flexible schedule, but there are definitely days where I’m pretty exhausted. Still, I love what I do and that makes it worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m a momma, wife, and photographer obsessed with telling stories in all their messy, authentic, and wild glory. I specialize in family photography and particularly love motherhood and baby photography. I want sessions to feel relaxed, unscripted, and totally you. It should be memorable, not stressful. I’m here for the beautiful space that you and your loved ones take up. We’ll find perfect in the imperfect.

I take pride in my editing style – I try to keep true to the original as much as possible, while enhancing what’s already there. My style is warm, colorful, and authentic.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I absolutely love the Culture Study podcast. It’s a deep dive on the culture that surrounds us day to day. I also subscribe to several newsletters including Culture Study, In Pursuit of Clean Countertops, Hot Tip, Emily in Your Phone, and Men Yell at Me. Many of these tackle motherhood, politics, and culture and help me make sense of the world.

I also follow several photographers that inspire me on Instagram including @create.joy.life, @sydneytaylorphoto, and @gigigphoto.
