Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After many years of teaching, I felt a calling from the Lord to leave my job and embrace a new path. A year later, I founded Verde Pastures Spanish Academy, driven by a vision to create a warm, loving Spanish immersion environment for young children.
I aimed to establish a nature-based setting where children could play, explore, and learn, while also fostering compassion through interaction with farm animals. What began as a small class in my game room with just three children has blossomed into something truly remarkable. Through faith and obedience, we have expanded from a tiny classroom to a full-fledged academy.
We have been blessed to purchase a neighboring house, allowing us to further integrate nature and farm animals into our learning environment, enriching our students’ experiences. Each step of this journey has been a testament to God’s plan and provision.
Today, we proudly operate five classes with a team of nine wonderful employees. This academy has become a profound part of my life, and I am deeply grateful for the blessings and growth we’ve experienced. Our journey serves as a powerful reminder of God’s love and faithfulness, and I am humbled and excited to see what the future holds.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning, securing full enrollment presented a significant challenge. I focused on developing effective strategies to promote the academy and reach prospective families. I am grateful to report that, thanks to our dedication and the positive experiences of our families, the majority of our new enrollments now come through referrals.

At Verde Pastures Spanish Academy, we offer flexible enrollment options with 2, 3, and 5-day programs, operating from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with extended hours available until 4:30 PM.
Our Spanish immersion, nature-based program spans over 2 acres, providing abundant opportunities for outdoor exploration and interaction with our farm animals. Students are fully immersed in a Spanish-speaking environment, making language acquisition both natural and enjoyable.
We focus on providing a solid foundation in academic skills while ensuring that children have fun and building lasting friendships. Our curriculum features 100% Spanish instruction, carefully designed to be age-appropriate and engaging, promoting natural language acquisition through interactive activities and social interactions.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the coming years, we aspire to evolve into a private school that serves students through high school, while maintaining our commitment to bilingual education and nature-based learning environments. This expansion will enable us to nurture young minds in a supportive atmosphere, fostering both academic excellence and personal growth.
We believe that by integrating language immersion with a strong emphasis on emotional and social development, we can prepare our students to thrive in a diverse and rapidly changing world.
