Today we’d like to introduce you to Asia Blackman
Hi Asia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Fleurish was birthed in 2019 as an event rental company. This quickly faded out as I realized my true passion was to drive change in the event industry and curate my own events. So I just went for it and started out with no knowledge of what I was doing and I had no peers close to me to offer advice or support. I saw all of this as confirmation that I had an amazing opportunity to do something I love, bring people together and create a safe space to allow other women starting a business or creative journey support to connect and form new relationships with women just like them. We had our first event this year ‘An Afternoon With Fleurish’ and it blew every expectation out of the water and left me feeling purposeful and in alignment with my gifts. I connected with so many beautiful women who were all bosses in their own right! AAWF set the foundation for what our community is today and I couldn’t be prouder
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The rebrand was definitely not a smooth road but when you want something bad enough, you don’t stop! You push through every obstacle until the finish line. I did a lot of things for the first time- like designing my logo, designing a website, curating a newsletter and heavily marketing an idea to the world hoping they see my vision. That’s scary and I wanted to quit many times but God was definitely on my side keeping me going while putting together the brand and the launch of Fleurish.
As you know, we’re big fans of Fleurish Creative Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Fleurish curates events for creative and entrepreneurial black women. Our purpose is to provide necessary support and resources to keep you in flow and see your goals to the finish line.
We are committed to community and truly focused on societal progress by building spaces where entrepreneurial women can come together and support each other so that we all can reach our goals.
We publish a monthly newsletter that informs our readers of upcoming events and meetups, horoscopes, podcast recommendations and spotlights featuring local brands and entrepreneurs we are loving plus so much more. Please visit our website or socials to learn more and be apart of the difference!
I’m overjoyed with the amount of support and recognition Fleurish has received in just a few short months. To see an idea turn into exactly what you envisioned and have people want to be apart of that has motivated me tremendously to keep curating, keep learning and keep supporting my community because they see me and I see them. My purpose is driven by God.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
What’s the saying ‘no risk no reward’. They ate with that one because if you aren’t acting on your ideas and stepping out on faith, someone else will act on it and then you’ll regret not taking the risk the moment the opportunity presented.
I understand it’s harder for others to have blind faith. My opinion on how bad you want it is really just how much you’re willing to risk.
That’s the ultimate cheat code to getting to your goals the fastest TAKE RISK.
