Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonnie Jones
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I discovered sound healing as I was completing my yoga teacher training. As someone who loves music, I was immediately enchanted by the use of drums, chimes, and singing bowls to bring our group circles into a cohesive and connected state. Music has always been a means of expression for me, allowing me to access and validate feelings, process them, and better my mental state. I found that listening to instrumental meditation tracks and nature sounds throughout the day aided my anxiety and helped me to stay calm and focused.
Almost immediately after receiving my yoga certification, I began looking into singing bowls, exploring them at my favorite local shop, and dreaming of having my own. I started learning about the benefits of sound therapy and the science that supports it. That’s when I discovered a certification that was accredited by the Complementary Medical Association and decided this was my next path. I planned and then purchased a set of quartz crystal singing bowls to begin my journey!
I kept it to myself for almost a year as I studied for my certification, playing them at home, healing, and getting comfortable with this new extension of my expression. I first shared this passion by conducting a few sound baths for friends in their homes to complete my certification. Then, I was offered an opportunity to share what I had learned about sound healing with my community at the wellness center where I am a patient. Around the same time, a friend recommended me to host at her local yoga studio. The relationships that I built with my community helped to propel me forward in this new journey. I am now in talks with another facility, where I hope to continue sharing my passion!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Although the calling is clear, the road isn’t always smooth. I was on the tail end of a different venture when I began, so it felt a bit rocky at first. I was nervous and a bit intimidated to start something new on my own. I recognized my feelings and allowed myself to process them before jumping into the work of sharing with others. I experienced the ideas and recommendations of others, discovering that what they saw for me wasn’t always what I saw for myself. I had to regroup and go inward to discover my path. Even then, there are forks in the road that have changed my course unexpectedly. It can be uncomfortable not to see a clear path forward, but that’s what makes the journey an adventure! I believe in staying true to oneself and following the calling of your heart. Getting past the road blocks and potholes makes you stronger and more resilient!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I named my new venture Jade Heart because it represents the energy that I want to share with others – abundant love, peace, and compassion for all. Through Jade Heart, I share my passion for natural healing by hosting Sound Baths at various locations throughout the DFW area. I enjoy offering my services in a way that reaches people inside and outside of the yoga community by making pricing accessible and being in places that are less traditional for sound healing services.
I specialize in focused healing of the body’s energy centers through guided meditation and sound. My 432 hz quartz crystal singing bowls are perfectly tuned to the seven main energy centers that run through the central channel of our body. At the beginning of the session, I guide attendants to focus their attention on these areas, while playing the corresponding frequency, and to notice which area feels like it needs special attention. The remainder of the session is conducted with all seven bowls at various intervals and volumes, keeping the vibe calm and relaxing. At the conclusion of the sound bath, I slowly guide attendees out of the meditative state and offer a time for sharing. I’ve found aromatherapy and crystals to be very supportive of my healing, so I also offer hand-crafted essential oil fragrances and crystal-beaded bracelets for purchase after class. As time progresses, more services and products will become available.
I am honored to hold space for every one of my attendees and my goal is to help others find more peace in their hearts.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I’ve explored so many books, podcasts, and resources in the past 5 years and there are a few that I recommend. Yoga with Adriene is an amazing yoga and self-care resource that can be accessed for free on YouTube. She’s also got an app available if you need more structure called Find What Feels Good Yoga. I needed lots of encouragement at the start of my journey and I found that in the Badass Manifester Podcast. The host, Ashley, wants to “make magic your everyday normal”. Meditation is very important to me and I connect with the offerings of Reiki Rachael, who offers free meditations on YouTube and additional offerings on her website. There are so many free resources available to us these days and I hope that you find what helps you on your journey!
