Hidden Gems: Meet Brandon Pedro of PCoCo Dog Grooming

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Pedro.

Hi Brandon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
PCoCo Dog Grooming started as more than a business it started as a purpose. I come from a family of immigrants who taught me that hard work, faith, and community are everything. Before opening PCoco, I was a college student, a soccer player, and a young entrepreneur searching for something meaningful to build. I didn’t just want to create income I wanted to create impact. The name PCoCo comes from my grandmother, Coco. In her tiny home in Oaxaca, Mexico, she handcrafts dog collars and leashes inspired by Mixteco culture using raw, natural materials. Her story is woven into everything we do. When people support PCoCo, they’re supporting generations, culture, and tradition not just dog grooming. I opened PCoCo in 2023 with more belief than resources. There were long nights, hard lessons, and moments of doubt but the community showed up when it mattered most. That support turned a small salon into a safe, loving space for pets and their people.
Today, PCoCo is built on patience, love, and trust especially for dogs who need extra care. We’re proof that when you lead with heart and stay rooted in your “why,” growth follows. And this is only the beginning.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all and honestly, that’s what makes the story real. The road has been full of challenges. From opening with limited resources to learning everything the hard way, there were moments where I had to be the groomer, the marketer, the janitor, the manager, and the problem-solver all at once. We dealt with slow months, unexpected expenses, broken pipes, snowstorms that forced closures, staffing challenges, and the constant pressure of keeping a young business alive.
One of the hardest parts has been balancing everything while being a full-time student. I was growing a business from the ground up while also carrying a full course load late nights studying after long days at the shop, early mornings opening the salon before class, and constantly choosing between rest and responsibility. It tested my discipline, my focus, and my belief in myself more than anything else. But the hardest part wasn’t just the obstacles it was pushing through the doubt. What kept me going was the community. Every client who trusted us, every dog that left calmer than when they came in, every message of support reminded me why we started. Those struggles didn’t break us they built us. They shaped PCoCo into a business rooted in resilience, patience, and heart. And they remind me that if you’re willing to carry the weight long enough, the vision will eventually carry you forward.

We’ve been impressed with PCoCo Dog Grooming, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
PCoCo Dog Grooming is more than a grooming salon it’s a community centered brand built on patience, culture, and care. At our core, we specialize in high-quality, fear-free grooming, especially for dogs who are nervous, anxious, or have had bad experiences elsewhere. We take the time to move at the dog’s pace, not rush the process, and treat every pet like family. That’s what we’re known for love, patience, and trust. What truly sets PCoCo apart is our story and purpose. Our brand is inspired by my grandmother, Coco, who handcrafts dog collars and leashes in her tiny home in Oaxaca, Mexico, using raw, natural materials rooted in Mixteco culture. When someone supports PCoCo, they’re supporting a living legacy not just a service. Culture, family, and tradition are woven into everything we do. Brand-wise, I’m most proud that PCoCo has become a safe space. Clients trust us with their pets, our team feels supported, and our community feels seen. We’re not chasing volume we’re building relationships. Every detail, from how we speak to clients to how we handle a nervous dog, reflects our values. What I want readers to know is that PCoCo stands for something bigger than grooming. We’re proof that you can build a business with heart, culture, and integrity and still grow. When you walk into PCoCo, you’re not just booking an appointment, you’re becoming part of a story.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories were the simplest ones playing soccer with old friends, running freely without any worries, just chasing the ball until the sun went down. Those moments felt endless, like time didn’t matter and the world was light.
I miss that kid sometimes the one who played just to play, who laughed easily, who flew his kite without fear of where it might land. That kid reminds me why I do what I do today: to build something that brings that same joy, freedom, and sense of belonging back into the world.
