Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Carew.
Hi Candace, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Let me start from the beginning…. when I was 12 years old, my parents asked if we should build a house, with our actual hands. Without hesitation, I gathered my entire savings, probably 4 rolls of pennies, lol (I got $2 per month allowance). I pushed the rolls across the table, like a high-stakes game of poker and said “I’m all in… and… you can discontinue my allowance.” 10 years later we finished– 3 story home, wrap-around porch, and dreamy lake view. We not only built a house, we built a home.
Years later and married with kids: in 2014, after putting my childhood construction knowledge into a few house fix & flips, my husband said randomly one night “hey, you should get your real estate license. Just click here and you’ll start classes Monday.”
I didn’t know that click would change my trajectory.
I’ve consistently drenched myself in contract education, negotiation strategies, creative financing, and so much more to continuously grow my knowledge so I can provide the best possible guidance in every circumstance.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some obvious struggles have been pivoting when the market, the economy and the world pivots.
Market crashes, high interest rates, Covid, etc.
Although life can be very cyclical, it’s important to not only learn from the past, but also remain flexible through change.
Sure I’ve had to navigate multiple offer situations and win out of 17 offers, figure out how to help someone sell their home without having to PAY $50,000 while giving their keys away, and even figure out how to get my seller to the American Embassy when she got stuck in another country when she needed to sign her closing documents. A real bus-with-chickens, movie scene, type of story, lol.
With every road block, with every speed bump and with every tsunami— we will persevere. The trick is realizing these temporary problems are just that, temporary. My goal is to find the best solution, a win-win for everyone, and also make the entire experience as enjoyable for my clients as possible.
We’ve been impressed with Houzable Group at OnDemand Realty, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Houzable, it’s truly real estate, reinvented. Our motto is: More Options, More Value. More You.
We are real estate agents, but buying or selling shouldn’t feel like a one-size-fits-all process.
At Houzable, we offer smart, flexible real estate solutions, tailored to your needs. We ask you questions, listen to your needs and then tailor a plan to best accomplish your goals, needs and timeline.
Whether you’re looking to renovate now and sell for more later, move into your dream home before selling your current one, choose your way cash offer or leverage our proven Advantage Blueprint® to sell your home faster and for top dollar, we’ve got you covered.
We don’t just put a sign and the yard and then wish on a star that your home sells, we curate a plan and proactively execute said plan to get the you the most and quickly.
If you’re a first time homebuyer, often times the ZERO down, conventional loan with no PMI can not only save you thousands on a down payment, but could save you hundreds per month with no mortgage insurance.
We have a wheel barrow of options and solutions that we use to help you make your dreams a reality.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’m all about mitigating risk and can’t stand procrastinating because that’s too big of a liability… but I’ve definitely taken risks over the years. Many.
I’ve renovated/flipped homes, had Airbnb’s, corporate housing, seller finance deals, creative financing deals and took leaps on educated guesses and massive research that turned into flops and some turned into gold.
Life is risky. Love is risky. Living is risky.
I love the excerpt from President Teddy Roosevelt’s speech from the early 1900’s when he spoke about the man in the arena striving valiantly saying, if you fail, at least you failed while daring greatly, so your place will never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory or defeat.
