Hi Candace, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Seventeen years ago, I married my husband Jermaine, and yes, I was that DIY bride who planned every detail of her own wedding from start to finish. That’s really where my love for wedding planning began. I’ve always had an eye for detail, loved staying organized, and enjoyed bringing a vision to life. Even on our wedding day, I was setting up and taking down décor, fixing a bridesmaid’s broken zipper, and coordinating with our caterer and DJ at our reception. I didn’t feel like anyone fully understood my vision or could be as assertive about it as I was, so I did it all myself.
That experience made me realize that there are so many people who probably felt the same way. They wanted someone they can truly trust to take care of every detail and make sure their day goes exactly as they dreamed.
After that, I started helping family and friends with their weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, christenings, housewarmings, birthdays, anniversary parties, you name it. And I loved it so much that I did it all for free, for years!
Fast forward to a few years ago, and Phenomenal Day Events was born. Making the decision to turn my passion into something bigger. My family and I had moved from my hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana, to the Dallas–Fort Worth area after nearly ten years of marriage. By then, I was a wife, a mom to two amazing kids, Monte and Carmen, and now officially a business owner continuing to do what I love, and get paid for it, Ha! 🙂
My goal has always been to give my clients someone they can rely on to make their special day as Phenomenal as it should be. Today, I’m still living that purpose, bringing smiles to my couples and clients not just at the end of the night, but throughout the entire planning journey and their event day, resting assured that they had chosen the right person.
With their vision and my passion, knowledge, and dedication, every event truly becomes a Phenomenal Day!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many business owners, I’ve had to step out of my comfort zone more times than I can count. When I first started, I was used to being the one behind the scenes, making sure everything ran smoothly for everyone else. But running a business meant putting myself out there, showing my face, promoting my brand, and believing that I had something valuable to offer. That took courage and alot of growth for me.
There were moments of doubt and times I questioned if I was really ready for it all, but I’ve been blessed to have people in my corner who have continuously cheered me on and reminded me of the greatness they see in me. Their encouragement has kept me going and pushed me to keep growing, learning, and trusting the process.
We’ve been impressed with Phenomenal Day Events Wedding & Event Planning, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Phenomenal Day Events is truly my hearts work. I help clients plan or coordinate weddings and events that feel like them, personal, meaningful, and stress free. My goal is always to take the weight off their shoulders so they can be fully present and actually enjoy their day.
I do it all, but I specialize in wedding coordination and event management. I step in to make sure all the planning my couples have done comes together perfectly. Timelines, vendors, setup, and all the in-between moments. I’m known for my calm under pressure, my attention to detail, and my ability to bring order and peace to what can easily become chaos.
I’d say what sets Phenomenal Day Events apart is my genuine connection with my clients. I don’t just show up and manage the logistics, I take the time to really get to know each client, their vision, and what matters most to them, and my clients can feel that.
Honestly, I’m most proud of the trust people put in me. Every time a couple says, “I don’t know what I would’ve done without you,” it reminds me why I do this. Building a brand that represents integrity, care, and excellence, that’s what keeps me going. I’ve grown a business that’s not just about events, but about experiences and lifelong memories.

Success to me is fulfillment. Being able to do what I love with excellence and integrity while helping others along the way, and staying true to who I am. Seeing my clients happy, and fully present in their moment. That is success to me.
