Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine Tiseo.
Catherine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was always interested in health & wellness from a very young age. After I graduated high school, I became a Registered Massage Therapist and worked in that industry for a couple years, which ultimately led me to get my Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition & Dietetics. I worked in the conventional healthcare/medical system for several years before finally branching out to form my own LLC La Dolce Vita Nutrition & Breathwork. In 2020 as an adjunct to my nutrition practice, I became a Certified Breathwork Facilitator/Coach.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been smooth, but let me also say, it has been very curvy & topsy turvy! The road that ultimately has led me to being an entrepreneur was built along the way as I navigated many roads that were not really in alignment with my truth and how I desired to engage and educate people about nutrition and wellness. Working in the conventional health industry taught me a lot about the ways that I wanted to impact people in a different, more effective way.
As you know, we’re big fans of La Dolce Vita Nutrition & Breathwork. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
First of all, I just love waking up every day knowing that I get to be a part of educating the public in nutrition & wellness!
La Dolce Vita started as a very part-time business as I was still working full-time for the hospital system.
I strongly feel that my style/technique of nutrition & wellness is definitely unique. There are a ton of great dietitians and nutritionists out there & people have access to so much information. However, for me after seeing clients and JUST focusing on the food and moving their bodies aspect, I felt there was always a missing link–something deeper that could not be reached with this way of practice. That led me to find the art of breathwork and soon after adding that component into my practice, it was a game-changer for my clients.
Treating the WHOLE person–BODY, MIND, SPIRIT is so paramount for lasting lifestyle changes. It doesn’t matter what the initial reason for a client booking with me whether that be for weight loss, nutrition prescriptions, medical issues etc. if the BODY, MIND & SOUL are not addressed in holistic manner, sustainable changes are more difficult to maintain.
I like to think of La Dolce Vita as a ‘one-stop shop’ in which I can assist you with your all of the aspects of health & wellness.
And I have a vast network of other practitioners such as Functional Medicine doctors, RMT’s, energy healing workers, etc. that I love to refer my clients to when it is needed.
My services are not cookie cutter and they are definitely curated to what each client needs. My philosophy about food and health is liberating and joyful–not restrictive and guilt-ridden. I listen to what you are looking for, what your lifestyle needs are and we co-create the best plan for you. I also offer wonderful group sessions, which honestly are my favorite, because of the group support dynamic that is at work in those, I love to see it and coach in that style.
One of the best compliments that I continuously receive from clients is how after working with me, their entire mindset about food and health shifted in the best way & I am most proud of that compliment for sure.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Yes, I feel I am a moderate risk-taker. I definitely do believe in ‘stepping out of your comfort zone’ often, to help one evolve and grow. I have personally done this many times in my own life from moving to NYC for my dietetic internship, knowing not one person to finally taking that leap of faith, quitting the conventional healthcare system to start La Dolce Vita, and raising a child as a single mom, all of these experiences have deeply taught me more about who I am.
