Today we’d like to introduce you to Chadae Sauls.
Hi Chadae, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After I graduated from Prairie View A&M University back in 2016 with my B.S. in Criminal Justice and minor in Communication I believed I would have a career with either degree, but something was missing like there was more I could do in life. My bestfriend Adawndra kept telling me to pursue a career in the beauty industry since that was my true passion. I then realized that I love everything the beauty industry had to offer so I decided to start my journey as a makeup artist. I started off doing my sister’s makeup, family and friends, then before I knew it I was actually getting clients who wanted to pay me to do their makeup. So, in 2017, I took my business seriously, came up with my business name, Added Glamor Beauty, got business cards and even shirts made. I wasn’t where I wanted to be in my makeup career yet, so I was working as a school teacher to of course, help pay the bills.
In 2018 I got pregnant with my son and knew that now more than ever, I needed to take my passion to the next level. I enrolled in makeup school because I knew if I wanted to be at a certain level in my career, I needed the proper education. I was working my full-time job, going to school at night and pregnant, I was able to graduate from makeup school eight days before I had my son. My career has had its ups and downs, but I never gave up, somehow, I found the strength inside of me even when others didn’t believe in me. I have had makeup workshops and classes, done makeup for a number of fashion shows in the Dallas area and worked on a few photoshoots and video shoots. My career seemed to be doing well, but I felt like there was still more God had in store for me. In 2019 my dad gave me the idea to start my own cosmetic line, but I was too busy to not even think about that, I was raising a son, taking clients and still trying to make a name for myself in the industry while still working a full-time job.
Once the pandemic hit this year, I was laid off from my job and not able to take clients. I revisited my dad’s idea about me starting a cosmetic line, so I went to work, did research about natural ingredients that are good for all skin tones and skin types and I came up with products for my cosmetic line. I worked hard on my products for a few months and so on July 20, 2020, I released my line for all to purchase. All my cosmetic products are handmade with natural ingredients that are vegan and cruelty-free. I provide Lip Gloss, Rose Infused Face & Body Oil, Rose Water, Body Shimmer Oils, Body Highlighter Sprays, Brow & Lash Growth Serum, and Lip Oils. I also provide lashes, clothes and purses. And just recently, I started doing wholesale for people interested in starting their own lip gloss business. Every day I’m working to make my business successful, but I remain patient and trust God always. I now run a business and continue working as a professional makeup artist.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel like when you work so hard to get where you want to be in life, the road is never smooth. I was dealing with issues between my mother and me, trying to make sure I was the best mom to my son, dealing with problems between my son’s father and I, and having friends and family members who didn’t have my best interest. I was trying to make sure I made everyone around me happy, that I started to lose myself and sight of who I was. I was so focused on worrying about other people’s feelings that I wasn’t making sure I was good. Everything happens for a reason and in life, we have to go through the hard times in order to come out even stronger in the end.
I appreciate all the heartache and pain that people who I once said I love caused me because it gave me that fire that I needed to become the woman I am today, I found that drive again and ever since I let go of those toxic and negative individuals and situations I remembered who I am and my purpose. I literally wake up happy every morning just knowing I get to run my business today and spend all the time I want with my son and the relationship between my mom and I has grown to be a better, stronger relationship. But we must remember that certain obstacles are placed in our life for a reason, it’s up to us on how we handle them.
As you know, we’re big fans of Added Glamor Beauty LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a professional makeup artist, I offer makeup services to clients for any occasion. I specialize in beauty, bridal, red carpet, HD, runway, and photography. I offer makeup workshops and one on one classes or group classes. I had a lot of clients tell me that what sets me apart from other artists they may have had is sanitation, professionalism, and great conversation. My goal is to make each one of my clients feel beautiful and to give them an enjoyable experience. Here at my business, I also have a cosmetic, clothing and accessories line. I wanted a cosmetic line for people of color, but my products work for all skin tones and skin types.
Right now, we offer Lip Glosses, Lip Oils, Rose Infused Face & Body Oil, Body Shimmer Oils, Rose Water, Body Highlighter Sprays, and Brow & Lash Growth Serum. Each product is healthy for the skin while still adding some glamour. I also provide clothes, purses and lashes. Starting in 2021, I will have more products that will be released, like an eye shadow pallet, more products for the skin and so much more. Because I went to school for makeup and learned about the skin as well, I feel like that sets me apart because of my background, I know how I want products to look and work on and for the skin.
What makes you happy?
My son makes me happier than I could have ever imagined. I love it when he wakes me up in the morning to tell me he loves me followed by so many kisses. Doing what I love every day makes me happy, whether it’s doing a client’s makeup or making products until 3:00 a.m. I love every minute of it. Everyday I’m reaching my goals one day at a time and knowing my son is proud of me makes me happy.
