Hidden Gems: Meet Cheryl Weis of EventWeis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Weis.

Hi Cheryl, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Absolutely! My path to launching EventWeis has been anything but traditional—but I wouldn’t change a thing.

I went to culinary school thinking I wanted to go into catering. I loved the idea of creating experiences through food—but once I got into the kitchen, I realized I didn’t enjoy the day-to-day work of cooking or writing recipes. What I did love was seeing how food played a role in bringing people together and creating a memorable event.

That realization led me to work for a large Dallas-based festival, where I helped manage permits and coordinate vendors. I didn’t know it at the time, but that experience would completely shift my career path. I found myself drawn to the behind-the-scenes logistics—how all the moving parts of an event come together to create something impactful.

From there, I started to lean into what came naturally: planning, organizing, and problem-solving. I spent years in the corporate world working in project management for companies like Accenture and TXU Energy, and eventually found the perfect way to combine that structured mindset with creativity through event planning.

Today, I focus on delivering strategic event planning with heart. My goal is to take the pressure off my clients so they can show up, connect, and celebrate—with confidence that everything behind the scenes is handled.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road—but every bump taught me something that’s shaped how I lead and plan today.

EventWeis originally started years ago, but I put it on pause when I partnered with another event company from 2018 to 2022. We were growing, building a name—and then COVID hit. Like so many in the industry, we were completely shut down for over a year. We pivoted hard, launched community meal initiatives, and found creative ways to stay connected to the hospitality world. But it was a tough season. Coming out of it, I realized the direction we were heading no longer aligned with where I wanted to go in my career.

After that chapter closed, I took what I thought would be a dream role in the corporate world—steady, structured, and full of promise on paper. But the reality was very different. I found myself in an environment with limited support and leadership that didn’t reflect my values. It was a difficult experience, but it gave me the clarity I needed.

That’s when I made the decision to relaunch EventWeis—this time with full intention. I wanted to build something rooted in both strategy and heart, where I could bring my skills to the table and help people execute events without the overwhelm. It hasn’t always been a straight path, but looking back, every challenge brought me closer to what I was meant to create.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about EventWeis?
EventWeis is a boutique event planning company that partners with corporate teams and mission-driven organizations to plan smarter, execute flawlessly, and keep leaders focused on what they do best.

I specialize in producing internal and external events—from executive retreats, milestone celebrations, and team offsites to sales kickoffs, client appreciation events, and large-scale conferences. Whether it’s a high-level board meeting or a branded product launch, my job is to ensure every detail is handled with intention and precision.

What sets EventWeis apart is the way we blend structure with creativity. My background in project management allows me to bring clarity and calm to the most complex event goals. I use a proven Define, Develop, Deploy process that transforms big ideas into streamlined, results-driven plans. Every decision is tied to business goals, brand alignment, and the guest experience.

At the same time, I care deeply about creating events that feel personal, polished, and engaging—both for the people hosting and the people attending. My clients often come to me overwhelmed or short on time, and I love being the partner who can take the pressure off their plate while elevating the outcome.

I’m proud to be known for delivering peace of mind—overseeing everything from logistics and vendor management to layouts, timelines, and permits—so my clients can step into their event with confidence and focus on the bigger picture.

At the core of EventWeis is a simple belief: exceptional events shouldn’t require you to burn out, pause your priorities, or lose sleep. When you have the right plan and the right partner, it can be both strategic and seamless.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was the kind of kid who always had a full schedule—in the best way. I was deeply involved in dance—tap, jazz, ballet—and later joined the drill team in high school, which became a huge part of my world. Between practices, performances, and school, I had something going on nearly every night.

Academically, I was all in. I took AP classes, was a straight-A student, and stayed active in Student Council and the National Honor Society. I was pretty shy and introverted, but I was also incredibly driven. I always knew I’d go to college, and I worked hard to make sure I had options.

Creativity was a big outlet for me, even if I didn’t always recognize it that way at the time. I designed most of the drill team t-shirts, made over-the-top posters for the football team, and went all-in on school projects—glue, glitter, tissue paper… the whole nine yards. Looking back, I would’ve thrived with a Cricut! I loved taking something ordinary and turning it into something people noticed and remembered.

That mix of structure, creativity, and quiet determination really shaped how I work today. Even then, I was learning how to balance a million moving parts, collaborate with others, and bring a vision to life—skills I use every single day in event planning.
