Chi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I come from a Vietnamese background and have always been drawn to the beauty and wellness industry. For more than eight years I managed salons, mostly focused on nails and esthetics, but about three years ago I discovered the head spa service while training in Hanoi, Vietnam. I immediately fell in love with how rejuvenating and transformative it was, not just for the scalp and hair but for overall relaxation and wellness.
Since then, I’ve been determined to bring this concept to the U.S. I searched for the right location in Dallas for over a year, and after months of planning and construction, I finally opened Flow Head Spa in Southlake. I left my family and career in Wisconsin to pursue this dream, and I’ve been fortunate to receive so much support from the local community. Our mission is to make head spa services both exceptional in quality and accessible in price, because everyone deserves the chance to be pampered and cared for.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was leaving behind my established life and family in Wisconsin to start over in Texas. Finding the right location took over a year, and once we did, the build-out process took another nine months with all the permits, design, and construction hurdles. On top of that, introducing a service that is still new to many in the U.S. has meant a lot of education and marketing to help people understand the benefits of a head spa. Despite the struggles, each step has been worth it to see the concept come to life and watch clients leave feeling renewed.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Flow Head Spa is still new, so we’re very much in the early phase of building awareness. I spend my time going door to door, introducing myself to local businesses and looking for creative ways to partner across different industries. On slower days, I’ll drive around with brochures, coupons, and a letter about who we are. A lot of doors close, but I remind myself that if I can deliver five letters, that’s five more people who know about Flow today than yesterday. Tomorrow it’ll be another five. In a month that’s 150, and in a year it’s thousands.
That mindset keeps me motivated — growth doesn’t happen overnight, it comes from small, consistent steps. I believe in my team and our service, and I know once clients experience Flow, they’ll return. My advice to anyone just starting out: be patient, persistent, and keep going. Every little step adds up.
