Hidden Gems: Meet Danielle Brown of Eat Beauty /LipSting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Brown.

Hi Danielle , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Eat Beauty was birthed in 2014. It’s conception began from a need to be a parent and a provider. My eldest son was diagnosed with Autism which left a great need of care and attention that seemed impossible to do while working a 9-5. I decided I didn’t have to choose between one or the other but I would create a career that would allow me to do both. I became a licensed cosmetologist and then went back for another 6 months to solidify my education in the area of esthetics and Eat Beauty has been on its journey ever since.

After establishing our footprint as a dependable luxury brand, I decided to expand into the world of cosmetics creating our AMAZING lip care line “LipSting” LipSting gives our clients and customers the opportunity to “eat beauty on the go” by customizing their beauty experience no matter the mood or occasion using our Clean (Paraben & Cruelty free) Lip products

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey of entrepreneurship has been full of smooth and bumpy roads. I recently experienced what I would call the biggest pothole in my journey to date. In 2023 I was blessed to know my 3rd child was in route but 5 months into my pregnancy my Father unexpectedly passed. The loss of my father was beyond devastating and as a result that landed me in the hospital with my water breaking at just 26 weeks.

It seemed like the only thing that was certain was uncertainty. I was immediately admitted into the hospital for the duration of my pregnancy which meant I had to abruptly close my business, I was stuck under 24 hour surveillance for almost 2 months, my eldest was a senior in high school and I still had no idea how to grieve the loss of my father.

I never imagined giving birth to a premature baby, I had no idea of what that journey would bring and I certainly didn’t expect to almost lose my own life in the process of giving birth. I loss over half the blood in my body after they pulled my 3 pound baby into the world. She was shipped off immediately to NICU as her lungs were under developed and there no time to spare meanwhile there I lay, fighting for my life, totally dependent on my faith and the doctors skills.

I’m so grateful that GOD’s plan is greater than my own because by his grace, a blood transfusion and 2 months in the Nicu, my daughter and I made it home safely. As one would imagine getting back to business was the last thing on my mind at the time. So I had to learn to give myself grace and know that in due time everything would be ok. I am so very thankful to GOD for sending me amazing people! One of my client/friend literally took care of my household while I had zero income due to the unforeseen closure and I was able to heal properly before getting started in business again.

As you know, we’re big fans of Eat Beauty /LipSting . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
EatBeauty is our parent company which provides services in the area of Hair care, Skin Care, Makeup application and Makeup education/classes.

LipSting is our products that was developed from a need we discovered within EatBeauty. We noticed our makeup clients would always ask what lip I used and if they could have some to go, therefore I created LipSting so that our clients can EatBeauty on the go.

EatBeauty/LipSting is set apart because we don’t just do one or the other. We have a combined service method that will impact our clients that sit in our chair as well as reach our consumers that may never have a chance to sit in our chair. Our brand isn’t here to just make a buck, we offer real change, real confidence and our education and credentials help us to do so.

I’ve worked with legendary artist (Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Shelia E) , I’ve worked on major platforms/networks (BET, MTV, Etc) It’s those kinds of experiences that have allowed me to take what I’ve learned servicing high profile clients and curate a luxury experience for the hardworking everyday 9-5 client.

I am most proud of our ever growing cosmetic line. LipSting will be inside our first brick and mortar come summer of 26. Our brand was chosen to be 1 of 5 black owned businesses to launch in the community store “Shops on Six” We are also continually hard at work finding our own brick and mortar to offer both products and services to our customers, clients and community.

EatBeauty also has an online platform where products can be purchased at www.eatbeautymakeup.com

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in alignment, I believe in having faith in GOD, I believe in hard work, dedication, commitment, preparation, Preservation and more. Luck as nothing to do with my success. I am Blessed! I am blessed with vision that I had the courage to follow and the courage to continue to believe in.
