Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Caudle.
Hi Debbie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started working with clients at the young age of 24, as an intern finishing my Masters in Counseling. My career followed a very traditional path, until I started my own practice in 2004 (full-time in 2005) and it’s gone through a number of permutations since then. In 2011/2012 the decision to step away from Medicaid and insurance reimbursements forced me to professionally think outside the box. It’s been a twisted journey to get where I am now, but it’s been worth every step (mostly lol). I am the founder of Marriage in Bloom, a high touch, transformational marriage intensive, for Christian couples.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nope! Lots of struggles…financial, marital (ended in divorce), not knowing how to restart a business in a digital world, having to learn social media, sales funnels, etc. Lots of money spent on various coaches, all of whom helped a little. Each coach brought me a step closer to my dream. Remarrying and finding a partner to step into my life, both personally and professionally, has been a game changer. I wouldn’t be where I am now without Jeff. Learning to relinquish control of every business aspect…mindset shifts…you name it, I’ve experienced it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We’re a small company – Jeff and I. We have a small team that we contract with. We provide marriage coaching services – I’ve been a therapist for 30+ years but I specialize in relationships and I have a coaching style/methodology. I’m faith-based, and I’m known for my no nonsense, direct approach with couples, as well as my educational style. I’m most proud of the Marriage in Bloom program, which we launched this year, and the direction we’re headed with it. We’re building a premium DIY experience as well, called Marriage in Bloom – Foundations. That should launch shortly after the new year.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I’d LOVE to see the barriers removed for therapists i.e. only able to practice in their state of licensure. I don’t know that it will happen though. That’s why I’ve moved to a coaching model. It enables me to work in a much broader way.
