Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Johnson.
Hi Debbie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Back in the early 90’s I was working for a Medical billing company and I began to see a trend. The clients we were billing rarely understood how their health insurance benefits worked. I would explain how the deductibles and out of pocket on their health plan worked and always thought it would be nice if they had someone to explain this to them when they enrolled in their plan. When my mother turned 65, that was another area where I saw a need. She needed help with her Medicare choices and I only had experience on the billing side. I wasn’t much help because I really did’nt know how that side of insurance worked. Later in 2011 I had an oppertunity to contract and sell health insurance plans. I took a leap of faith and got licensed and began my new career in Health and Medicare insurance plans. As a Broker I am able to look out for the clients needs and search multiple plans and options to make sure they have the best fit for their needs and budget! I can explain how their plan works and I am always their first go to if they have questions. If I can’t answer their question, I will work with them to get the answers! I love helping people manuver through the very complex and confusing world of Insurance. I have a store front office so whether we meet in person at the office, or if you just want to take care of business over the phone, we are here to help! The best part for the client is we never charge for helping and assisting with enrollments!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The transition from Billing/Collecting to Sales/Consulting was easy! I had a lot of knowledge and knew where I saw deficiencies from my prior career.
We’ve been impressed with Debbie Johnson Insurance Agency, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a small family owned business. specializing in Health Insurance including ACA and off Exchange plans, Life, Medicare, and Supplemental coverages like Dental/Vision/Accidental/Cancer plans.
We take pride in the warm and friendly atmosphere we create to help put our cleints at ease during a difficult time having to choose insurance plans or transition to Medicare, as well as the fact we don’t just offer one health or Medicare plan. We have a large portfollio to choose from when shopping for your Insurance plans! One thing that sets us apart from others is that we strive to respond to cleints as quickly and as reaonably possible when you have a need or question.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My mother always says I have a calming effect when interacting with people, and I make them feel at ease. I think that really helps to create a peaceful environment. I can definitely relate to how frustated they feel when trying to navagate this area of their life!
