Today we’d like to introduce you to Deseron Forney.
Hi Deseron, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Me and my business partner, Ollie Hoops III, started off in 2017. We bought an old ice cream trucks with hops of converting it into a fully functional mobile kitchen. After a year or so of trying to make it work I decided to make a pivot and try a tent setup. We would go around setting up wherever we were welcome and continued that for about 2 years. During the summer of covid (2020) we bought a custom trailer and this took our business to the next level. Since then we have been all over spread our brand and serving communities all over Texas. We’ve partnered with many organizations, schools, and brands as a business model adopted from our time in corporate America and this is how we’ve been able to stand the test of time thus far.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We’ve had many struggles. Initially we struggled getting funding from banks and had to make sacrifices saving where we could until we were finally able to purchase the trailer. We’ve had a wheel fall off while driving, roof leaks, and other issues with our unit. It took a while getting out name out as well so we went to businesses all around passes out menus and contact cards. Worked 9 day stretches in the beginning taking on every opportunity to get going. Some of those yielded little to no profit only seeing 2 customers in a 4 hour span
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a food trailer that serves some of the best burgers and catfish in the city. Our flavor profiles and fresh ingredients set us apart from the competition. We use a special seasoning blend that everyone raves about. We are most proud about our ability to take our brand from nothing to being invited to partner with big brands such as Amazon, Lexus, Walmart, FedEx, Nike, and many more! We offer catering and private event services as well.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like the hustle mentality of the city. Everyone is trying to make something of themselves and venture into some type of entrepreneurial endeavor. Traffic makes it difficult at times to get from A to B but that comes with it I guess.
