Today we’d like to introduce you to Eden’s Play Cafe.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As sisters and now mothers, we (Mavia and Maria) created Eden’s Play Café out of both our sisterhood and our motherhood. Growing up together in the late 80s and early 90s, our imagination was everything to us. We’d spend hours creating little worlds, dreaming up “businesses” in our bedroom or yard—pretend restaurants, stores to even a full on radio show production — using play as a way to entertain ourselves and bond as sisters. It’s funny and beautiful that now, all these years later, we’ve actually built the real thing together!
Motherhood gave us that extra push. As moms, we felt an itch—not only just to have something of our own- and be proud that we actually did it, but to create something that filled a gap we saw in the area. We dreamed of a space where kids could play freely, while we could catch our breath, sip a coffee, and feel supported by other moms. That dream became a vision, and that vision became Eden’s Play Café.
It hasn’t been easy—but every time we see kids giggling in the playhouses or a mom smiling, we’re reminded of the kids we used to be, dreaming big through play, and the women we are now, turning those dreams into reality.
At its core, EPC is about more than play. It’s about imagination, community, and connection—just like it was for us as sisters all those years ago. And now, we get to share that with other families.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road! From the start, it was one challenge after another. Securing funding was tough, and then finding a space that wouldn’t completely drain our funds was even harder. Once we finally got the location, we had to deal with contractors—missed appointments, delays—you name it. Our opening date kept getting pushed back, which was so frustrating!
And honestly, the challenges don’t stop once you open. There’s the day-to-day of running a business, keeping up with families’ needs, and trying to balance all the moving parts at once.
But at the same time, every struggle has made us tougher and more grateful.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Eden’s Play Café is more than just a play space — it’s a community hub for families. We provide a safe, clean, and imaginative environment where children can play freely while parents can enjoy a cup of coffee, and connect with others.
We specialize in creating a balance between play and parenthood. Our space offers daily open play, memberships, and birthday party packages, but what we’re really known for is the experience: cozy, inviting, and built with both kids and caregivers in mind. Parents often tell us how refreshing it is to find a space where their little ones are entertained and in full view.
What sets us apart is that we’re moms ourselves. We built EPC out of our own need for a place like this, so every detail — from the playhouses to the comfy seating, coffee, and even the events we host — is designed with families in mind. We’re most proud that our brand reflects authenticity and care.
What we want readers to know is: EPC isn’t just a business, it’s a community. Whether you’re here for open play, celebrating a milestone, or attending one of our events, our goal is always the same — to make you feel welcome, supported, and part of something special.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Yes! One of the biggest resources for us has been Michelle Caruana. She’s a former play café owner who now dedicates her time to helping other play café owners get started. It honestly felt like having a mentor in our pocket. We also joined a Facebook group specifically for indoor play space owners, and it’s been incredible. No one gatekeeps there—it’s just a community of people who truly want to help each other succeed.
And above all, our faith in God is what grounds us. Prayer and time in the Bible are what give us the strength, peace, and direction to keep going. It’s our foundation, both personally and as business owners, and it’s what helps us show up better for the families we serve.
