Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Nietert.
Hi Elizabeth , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Lonestar Home Watch was born out of a costly firsthand lesson in the fine print of homeowner’s insurance. We founded the company after our own insurance claim was denied because our home had been vacant for more than 30 days; as a result, we were forced to pay out of pocket for the extensive damage caused by burst pipes during a hard freeze.
That experience highlighted a massive gap in protection for many homeowners. Today, we pride ourselves on being the eyes and ears on the ground when our clients are out of town, helping them catch minor issues before they escalate into catastrophic losses. We also coordinate onsite contractors should home damage occur to get your property back to its original beauty as quickly as possible.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest challenge we’ve faced is simply building awareness; while professional home watch services are common in states like Florida or Arizona, the concept isn’t yet widely recognized here in Texas. Many homeowners don’t realize that standard insurance policies often have ‘vacancy clauses’ until it’s too late. Our primary mission right now is education—helping Texans understand that having a professional presence on the ground isn’t just a luxury, but a vital safeguard for their property’s integrity and their own financial peace of mind.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lonestar Home Watch?
Lonestar Home Watch was born out of a personal financial disaster. We founded the company after our own insurance claim was denied because our home had been vacant for over 30 days during a hard freeze. After being forced to pay out-of-pocket for extensive damage from burst pipes, we realized that many homeowners are unknowingly exposed to the same risks. We decided to turn that hardship into a mission: ensuring no other Texas homeowner has to face a catastrophic loss alone.
Our Specialization: The Eyes and Ears on the Ground
We specialize in visual inspections of unoccupied properties. We aren’t just “checking the mail”; we are trained to identify the early warning signs of water leaks, HVAC failures, pest infestations, and forced entry. We are known for being the “eyes and ears on the ground” when a homeowner is away, providing a professional presence that a neighbor or a friend simply can’t offer.
What Sets Us Apart
Unlike a “neighbor watch” or a general property manager, we focus exclusively on maintaining the client’s home as they left it.
Experience-Driven: Our business is built on a real-life understanding of identifying potential home risks.
Detailed Reporting: We provide digital reports with photos and videos, giving homeowners an audit trail that can be vital for insurance purposes.
Proactive Defense: We don’t just find problems; we help homeowners catch them before they become catastrophic.
Brand Pride and Philosophy: Brand-wise, we are most proud of our integrity and resilience. We have taken the challenge of a “new” industry in Texas—where Home Watch is not yet a household name—and turned it into an educational platform. We are proud to be pioneers bringing this essential service to our local community.
