Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Winston.
Hi Faith, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I graduated from Academy of Art University in 2020 during the pandemic and decided to move back to my hometown Dallas to establish my fashion line, Ceres Monae. I started by making one of kind pieces to now building a innovative sustainable brand that has clothing, accessories, and candles.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has being a lot of bumps along the road being a creative and entrepreneur. I make a lot of the products myself and can sometimes work long hours. I had to learn to pace myself and work with a team to not burn out. Also, I had to overcome fear of what people might think of my work because it’s uniquely different.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Ceres Monae is an innovative sustainable fashion brand based in Dallas, Texas. We offer clothing, accessories, and candles. We always try to find ways on how we can repurpose/recycle, in addition to utilizing deadstock and natural materials. What sets Ceres Monae apart is that we are improving consumer lifestyle and develop a unique flair. So far, very proud of doing pop-ups in Dallas, and will do more in other cities.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was a kid that never really fit into cliques. I was always dancing, singing, and drawing. I was very artistic and still am. I let my inner child lead me to my creativity. I used to go on stage and perform at talent shows. I had a whole dance routine along with my friends, and I swear I thought I was Beyoncé. I knew as growing up, I wanted to be in the creative realm because it’s something that I am very passionate about.
