Today we’d like to introduce you to Fernando Alvarez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Since I was a kid, I enjoyed learning about business while working for my uncle. Then I got into the advertising world. It’s been exciting. It all started in my hometown: Querétaro, Mexico. First, I started working as a salesman for my cousin, who had an outdoor media company. We grew the company together and then we sold it. Then I launched my first agency. We did great campaigns all over Mexico and Texas for 10+years. We learned so much about the marketing world. Then I came to Dallas when I got my citizenship (My mom was born in Brownsville, TX). One day, I was watching Mad Men and the next day I was sending emails to agencies in Dallas. I thought: “I must partner with someone out there in order to grow.” That’s when I met Ben Randolph, Founder of Agency Entourage. Two years later, we launched Vaquero Advertising, a Hispanic Marketing Agency in North Texas.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It´s been challenging. At the beginning, it wasn´t easy. I didn´t know the business culture, the people and the language. I always spoke fluent English as a tourist, but not as a salesperson! Plus, I only had a few friends and one cousin. I found amazing people that supported me along the way and believed in my mission.
We’ve been impressed with Vaquero Advertising, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Vaquero Advertising is a Multicultural Marketing Agency. We partner with companies across the US & Mexico and we boost their online presence. Our expertise relies on the knowledge of the Hispanic and LatinX culture. One of the things I love about our company is the mindset we all have for creating great online projects together while working remotely. We are well known for launching successful influencer marketing campaigns on Social Media. Amamos Texas y somos Vaqueros. Caminemos juntos!
What are your plans for the future?
We want to continue growing in Dallas and México. There´s so much we need to learn about new technologies, like VR and Predictive Marketing in order to innovate. We want to help Entrepreneurs and Business Owners conquer their Industries and connect their Brands with the Hispanic community. Multicultural marketing is getting big. Por eso estamos aquí.
