Hidden Gems: Meet Ike Nwabah of MarketReady Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ike Nwabah.

Hi Ike, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve spent the last 15 years in many corners of the tech world—from IT and cybersecurity to most recently construction technology. I have also held the bag in sales, owned P&L in product, and ran marketing. Through all that, I saw that deeply understanding my customers was the only way for my customers, my organization, and me to succeed. That simple idea is why my wife and I decided to take the leap and start our own growth product marketing consultancy this year. Product marketing being our greatest functional skill. We believe companies are looking for real partners who’s been there, who understand their customers, and who can get things done. Our goal for our practice is really just that. We aim to get in the trenches with our clients, roll up our sleeves, and use everything we’ve learned to help them succeed.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We are fortunate that our journey overall has been smooth and that we landed some awesome clients early on. These clients are solving some real challenges in their market and have great solutions that address the needs.

The biggest struggle we have faced, I’d say, would be the balancing act of a small business – serving your clients well, troubleshooting IT issues, setting up the foundational business operations capabilities (eg. website, legal, processes), building future pipeline, etc. It’s been a lot to learn but its been going well.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
MarketReady Group is a growth product marketing consultancy. We help B2B software startups in the construction technology, cybersecurity, IT, and Telco industries reach their ideal customers with the right strategy.

We know that building a successful company hinges on truly understanding our customers: their needs, their challenges, and the market opportunities available. This deep insight is what shapes an effective strategy and guides its execution. That’s why we’re selective about the opportunities we pursue, focusing on industries we have proven experience in and profound audience knowledge. We come with our experience but let customer and market data guide the strategy.

Our group is comprised of industry-leading experts across product marketing, digital, brand, and content marketing. We provide advisory, strategy, and implementation services.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I would encourage anyone looking for a mentor to speak up and ask. I have been surprised throughout my career (and even as we launched our consultancy) how folks are willing to give of their time.

On the networking side, connecting with old co-workers and acquittances has worked well for me. Of course, I would encourage folks not to just take but also find ways to give as well, whether that be making connections, sharing your services, or being a listening ear.

A very recent example for us was when we were in the early stages of evaluating starting our consultancy, I reached out to one of my former bosses and dear friend. He volunteered some of his friends who are in the business and those folks have been so helpful in how we have navigated getting started in this industry. My hope is that I have also been helpful to them.

I know for some, asking can be difficult. But I truly encourage you to step out of your comfort zone, if that is your case, as it will pay dividends.
