Hidden Gems: Meet Jacob Alvarado of A6 Residential

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Alvarado

Hi Jacob, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Jacob. Here’s how I got here (short version). I originally started a painting company and it quickly evolved into remodeling and residential improvements. We handle a variety of upgrades and home improvement needs/wants such as bathroom and kitchen remodeling, interior and exterior painting, storage solutions, epoxy floors, fence construction, and landscaping/hardscaping. I myself am hands-on as needed while working effectively with my personal teams and network of other individual contractors. We have the skills that can execute many types of jobs.
I come from a customer service and hospitality background and understand the full benefit on all ends of providing quality customer service. I worked for an amazing restaurant company for approximately 13 years and lead in many positions. Prior to and during the restaurant & retail days, I attended schools such as The Art Institute of Dallas and took art and core classes at local colleges. I then earned a business degree at University of Phoenix and decided to turn my passion for creation into my career. I then started a photography company and a photo booth company. The cool thing about the photo booth was that is was inside of a VW BUS! I love creating and I really enjoy getting to know people.
After the photo and restaurant days, I was on my 4th kiddo. I chose to finally utilize my handyman trade skills and people skills, and business knowledge to create my own painting and remodeling company. I have built great relationships throughout many years and I cherish them. I want to help people get what they need so they can help me provide a comfortable lifestyle for my professional network and my family.
Ensuring that your home improvements are executed to last many years to come is priority. My teams and I will work hard at communicating effectively through the consultation and design process so that we fully understand which areas of your living style can be improved in an effective and efficient timely way. We can work together to build a beautiful place worth coming home to.
After all, it’s not just a house, it’s you’re home.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It started out smooth and got a little rocky around Covid when inflation started hitting after lockdown. Business started picking back up in 2022 and now it’s moving along quite well. Since then, I have implemented a business program into my business concept that is helping me grow efficiently and more systematically. I’ve always wanted to use my business to give back to the community while obtaining a healthy and more free way of living for myself and my family. I’m beginning to reach that goal consistently.

As you know, we’re big fans of A6 Residential. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My concept started out as residential painting and evolved into remodeling. I have an art background and worked Just shy of 15 years with one company (Fish City Grill) as a bartender/manager type figure. I understand the true concept of quality customer service because of the type of owners that I worked for, and adopted their methods happily. I knew that when I wanted to start my own business doing something I love I could utilize the skills they taught me and go far. Nor only am I able to set a good example for my children through the work that I do, and the way that I treat my customers, but I’m also able to make quality living and hopefully build something that I could leave my family so long as they want it. The best part about painting and remodeling is peoples homes are my canvases. While working in the restaurant industry, I had a slide business doing photography and owned a Volkswagen bus with a Photo Booth inside of it. At one point, I decided to sell it and focus only on improving peoples residential properties and delivering a product that people will cherish and truly appreciate. My method of delivering quality and involves communication and education, so that people know exactly what it is that they are paying for and why are they are paying for it. One day, I plan on investing more in real estate. Who knows where this is going to take me but as for right now, I’m loving the ride.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The most important thing I’ve learned from Covid is sticking together with your community. When times are tough all we have is each other. You start with your family because that is your most local community and then you start with your families local community. You help out you pay attention And move forward. Do you think with an open mind but you respect the situation fully. You have to learn to adapt to life-changing events. You can’t change the past and you don’t know the future, but we definitely have the present and that is all we can control.
