Hidden Gems: Meet Jairibeth Higuera of Carrao restaurant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jairibeth Higuera

Hi Jairibeth, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started in 2019 when I arrived in this country, at first I worked in several companies, in a warehouse I even made deliveries for several months together with my boyfriend we created our first company called Pastelitos Hugo which started from our apartment which was dedicated to the sale of Venezuelan fast food, it became a very successful business until today we have 3 locations, I felt the need to undertake something for myself, something different and to improve myself… pursuing my dream of being a successful businesswoman, and I wanted to do something different from fast food, although finally my best knowledge is in the field of food and restaurants I ended up creating this concept, totally different from what I had always worked for, which was fast food. This is how Carrao restaurant started, which took me about six months to be able to open it because I wanted to prepare for this new challenge, so I sought a lot of advice although some were helpful and some were not. I thought it would be easier to open a restaurant of this magnitude, but it was actually a great challenge for me. Although there were many hard days, bad thoughts, and mistakes, I feel proud of what I achieved today, of what I built. And today I can say that I can feel like the successful woman I wanted to be, capable of opening 100 more restaurants.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was not an easy road. First, the project went over budget. There were people who tried to advise me and they were not professional enough or did not have the experience required for this project. The city permits took longer than expected, but we were still able to achieve the goal, to carry out this project.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
It is a restaurant + bar where their best-selling dishes are what we Venezuelans know as “parrillas” but would be a BBQ or Grill Steaks with Venezuelan and Latin fusion. It is a restaurant that seeks to position itself as one of the TOP restaurants where you not only have an experience with food but you can share a pleasant time with friends and family, you can celebrate birthdays and special events, and on weekends you can enjoy great live music, a good DJ, surprises and much more.

I am proud of my brand because it has been a project that I have undertaken alone, although with the help of many good people that God has placed in my path, and overcoming this challenge has also broken those barriers of insecurity that existed in my personality.

I want to invite all the readers of this great magazine to visit us, try our 2×1 cocktail portions from Monday to Thursday, the different shows that we have on weekends and learn a little more about Venezuelan and Latin cuisine.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I didn’t have a mentor or guide, except God. He was always my guide, I always found strength in Him when I felt that times were tough.
