Hidden Gems: Meet Jamar Seay of Twerk City Tacos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamar Seay. 

Hi Jamar, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started as a line cook on the grill for Stanford’s Restaurant in Walnut Creek, CA Broadway Plaza. Then I cooked as a Saute for Bluestem Brasserie in San Francisco’s Union Square. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been smooth. Hiring people who aren’t worth what they’re asking. People will waste your time because they don’t respect their own time. Motivating yourself because people will watch you just to say they knew you when but never actually help you. Dealing with small business owners that have resources you need but do not want to share with you. Or just dealing with personal tragedy and things close to home that are hard to endure while you’re building your business by yourself. 

As you know, we’re big fans of Twerk City Tacos. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Twerk City Tacos is a company that believes in great food accompanied by great service! I owe a huge thank you to Google Maps, TikTok, and Instagram for helping my videos to be seen all over the world! With a background in music business and creative media, the videos I create to market my food are cutting edge and creatively entertaining. I am most proud of all the skills I developed during the pandemic building my company up and coming up with content to share with the world. Aside from my food being homemade and fused with never seen before combinations of flavor. My experience with all kinds of food help lead me confidently thru my journey with creative cuisines. Aside from a couple of trolls here and there, I am very proud of all the five stars I have retrieved on Google Maps and my overall reputation on the small business owner streets lol! Look for some collaborations and takeovers with other amazing chefs! 

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Of course, I thank God for including me in this wonderful plan and putting this crazy vision on my heart! I want to thank my family for supporting in different ways throughout my journey. Definitely have to thank Ken & Rob for taking my concept to the next level. I look forward to feeding as many as possible!
