Today we’d like to introduce you to Jan & Jillian Yuhas.
Jan & Jillian, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We began our passion for helping others at the age of 22 when we became volunteers at the National Runaway Safeline. During our volunteer experience, we helped mediate high-conflict conversations between parent(s) and their teens who ran away from home. We provided compassionate guidance and creative solutions to the families in order to work through their challenges and unresolved differences prior to the child returning home. Our years of volunteering fueled our interest to want to help others work through their relationship struggles, which lead to our Masters in Marriage & Family Psychology. From there we continued our development to become certified co-parenting coaches and family mediators.
As children of a divorced family, we have first-hand experience in understanding the importance of co-parenting and establishing a new family structure that benefits the welfare of all parties involved. We assist our clients in reaching parenting agreements that are sustainable, diminish conflict through resolution tools, establish healthy boundaries, cultivate healthy relationships, and simplify the divorce process through coaching and/or mediation techniques.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every day is a new day, as each family we assist is unique in their own set of challenges they experience. It continues to push us outside of our comfort zone to consistently learn about how to help families better navigate these complex situations. Growth is something we value and continue to develop our skills through the ongoing education of challenging personalities, negotiation, and healing modalities.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are dedicated to helping individuals and families facing co-parenting complexities or divorce by amicably resolving disputes and increasing constructive communication for a peaceful resolution. We help families establish firm boundaries, evolve into their new lifestyle, support the psychological and emotional health of children and parents, and create amicable parenting plans.
Our psychotherapy education, personal experience, and drive for resolution give us a cutting edge in the divorce community in helping others identify psychological manipulation, parentification, and emotional abuse. We help our clients build their cases for court, strategize to outsmart manipulative personalities, gain insight into motives, and create unity to meet the children’s needs through creative communication solutions.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Being entrepreneurs is a risk every day that we don’t think twice about. There are many risks involved in our work as we help parents cope and deal with difficult personality types and the unknowns that arise during divorce. We take the utmost care in assisting our clients with major decisions in their lives, as well as their children’s, based on strategic approaches. We don’t take lightly the protection of innocent children. While some strategies and tools may seem risky in the moment, they are well-thought-out and executed to benefit all parties involved.
