Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaqueline Hernandez.
Hi Jaqueline, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a little girl growing up, I always had a love for the beauty industry. I loved being dolled up, or what my mom and Tia would call it “siempre bien coqueta.” As I got older, I started my struggles with acne. This took a toll on my mental health as insecurities rushed in. I knew this was something I wanted to work on, but I was just not sure how. One day, I decided to tour a beauty school without knowing all that was to come. I learned about esthetics and their esthetician program; I knew this would be perfect as I’ve always shared a love and interest in the beauty industry, and I’d be able to help myself, along with others with similar struggles. I went to school, graduated, and earned my license. I am now the owner of Luxe Bare Skin Esthetics and can proudly say that I’ve helped so many people in their own skin journey! “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” This quote resonates so much with me and my business as I do what I love, and it truly does not feel like work.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a business is never easy; however, I believe it’s what you make of it that matters. Like any other person, I’ve had my obstacles, but in the business world, you must view everything as a learning opportunity. I started my esthetics business in 2020, COVID year. This was a little challenging as there were a lot of new changes that we needed to adapt to, and it was just a scary time as is. Instead of dwelling on the fact that things were hard, I decided to focus on things I had control over –like furthering my education in esthetics, learning about new treatments, and working on building my clientele.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed esthetician who specializes in everything from skincare to mainly focused on facial treatments like acne, brightening, and aging facials. However, I do also offer waxing, eyelash, and eyebrow services, a one-stop shop, if you will. I am proud to say I’ve been able to help people with their own skin concerns and even with building their self-esteem and confidence. I believe that is the most rewarding part for me, to know I have made someone feel comfortable in their own skin and body!
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Oftentimes, people are surprised to know that I didn’t always have a clear complexion and struggled with acne myself. There was a time when I would avoid social interactions and taking pictures due to how insecure I was in my own skin.
