Hidden Gems: Meet Jazmin Hornbeck of Haus of Skin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmin Hornbeck.

Hi Jazmin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was introduced to Esthetics in early 2019 and fell in love with it. I myself have struggled with never feeling comfortable in my own skin so when I was introduced to Esthetics and saw how it made me feel and that it was there for not just women, but everyone, and it wasn’t just a luxury but necessity on so many levels I knew this was what I wanted to do. I’ve always been driven to help people in anyway I can so this was such an amazing opportunity. I was so excited to get out there and starting to help people love themselves and their skin. I am so happy that I did.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While I am so grateful for where I am today it definitely has not always been easy. I worked in a chain for a few years and while I loved my regulars and built great relationships with them I had to leave due to the environment that I worked in. Being reprimanded due to not wanting to force my clients into something I felt they didn’t need, or making them purchase products, services or packages they didn’t need just so I could meet a sales quota- didn’t sit well with me. Unfortunately in those types of places it is also very much turn and burn. I didn’t like that. I didn’t want to be rushed. And I still don’t in my own spa. I take my time and only recommend and give suggestions to my clients and if they are interested then great and if not that’s okay too. We can still work together to meet any goals they have.
Too be fair, being solo has its own ups and downs too. There’s busy seasons and slow seasons. You have to be on top of everything all the time. It can be very demanding but so rewarding. You just have to remember why you got into Esthetics and work for it. You will be rewarded in the end. I am so grateful for where I am today, that I worked through and continue to work through the struggles. Everyone has them they just don’t talk about them.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Haus of Skin I offer fully customizable Facials, a Back Treatment, Peach Treatment and Vagacials. My service menu also includes full body waxing. My specialty is the Haus Luxury Brazilian. Definitely one of my favorite services on my menu besides the Haus Signature Facial, those are my top two services right off the bat.
Haus of Skin is an all inclusive private spa. I strive to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels at ease no matter size, gender, race or sexual orientation. EVERYONE is welcome. There’s no pressure to dress up, wear makeup, or style your hair—just come as you are. My spa is a judgment-free zone where authenticity is celebrated, and everyone is encouraged to be themselves.
I pride myself on being approachable and down-to-earth, always ready with a joke, a hug if its needed, or a listening ear. I affectionately refer to myself as a ‘crunchy mom,’ embracing both the put-together moments and the more relaxed or messy ones. Comfort is key for me, whether I’m on the go or welcoming clients into my spa. And I encourage that from my clients as well.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Some of the most important lessons I’ve learned have come from listening to my clients and their feedback. It’s helped me enhance my services and the clients experience. I love getting feedback from my clients. It helps me learn and drives me to be a better Esthetician.
