Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerry Mooty.
Hi Jerry, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have been an attorney by trade since 1996 but sold my ownership in the firm I founded, McCathern Mooty, LLP, in 2012. I have done a lot in real estate from developing, investing, and papering transactions so I love all things real estate. From 2012 to 2019, I did several entrepreneurial ventures but was approached to join the leadership of a small boutique brokerage in Dallas. That fell through right before covid but I was signed up to take my real estate license test so I just continued down that path. I joined an independent brokerage during covid as the Chief Strategy Officer and a realtor. The realtor side took off and a huge opportunity presented itself for me to own my own brokerage by bringing @properties to Texas. We are about 14 months into the venture and just over 50 agents. We open our Frisco office in 4th quarter 2022 and are already recruiting heavily in North Dallas.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
A start-up company is never smooth, but that is what makes it fun for me. I love building companies and bringing in the right people to grow the culture. I believe in the “love where your work” environment and most of that culture is created by the people who work together. We are being very selective to add the right people as we grow. If there has been one struggle it has been getting our office’s finished in a timely manner based on the delays in the construction industry…
We’ve been impressed with @properties Christie’s International Real Estate, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I think our cool @brand is shaking up the Dallas Ft. Worth market where a lot of brokerages are still behind in supporting their agents with the tools, techniques, and strategies needed to succeed in such a very competitive industry.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
My kids laugh at me all the time because I constantly say “if you are not first, you’re last” from the movie Talladega Nights. While that may be a little extreme in the real world, I do believe if you are not first, then you need to learn from who is number 1 and continue to push to be the best.
