Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesus Mitchell.
Hi Jesus, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Jesus Emmanuel Mitchell (a.k.a NoChillSaint), and I was born and raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Hailing from Carrollton, TX. I was raised by my mother and grew up with my younger sister. I attended Newman Smith High School and eventually attended The University of North Texas. During my university years, I became a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc and I got my bachelor’s degree in 2021 (where I majored in Integrated Studies with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and Residential Property Management.).
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing in this life comes easy. Everything worth obtaining is worth effort. Me personally, I have struggled with various “issues” to get to where I am at today. You can only imagine what my childhood was like being named “Jesus” (gee-sis) and pronouncing it that way. I have overcome the doubt from others, people who didn’t see my vision, naysayers, fake acquaintances, people not being there when I need it, etc. Unfortunately, those weren’t the biggest issues I’ve faced. I mostly struggled with intrapersonal issues. As a child I struggled with an articulation disorder. I have scoliosis (along with the corrective surgery), I have asthma, allergies, eczema, and I am legally blind without wearing some form of glasses. The issues that I have been dealing with since birth caused a lot of strain on me mentally, and eventually I was diagnosed with manic depressive disorder. Mental health = wealth, and maintaining homeostasis in my mental is something I strive towards every day. I have struggled the most with self-love and truly believing in myself. Some days are better than others. The biggest struggle I say I’ve had to overcome is getting out of my own way and allowing myself to be successful. I was constantly telling myself why I couldn’t do something or why something wouldn’t work out. Eventually, after going to therapy, I realized that I can do anything I set my mind to (within the realms of my physical capabilities), and the only thing holding me back from achieving what I want to achieve is: MYSELF. If you don’t support and take care of yourself, then who else is supposed to?
We’ve been impressed with No Chill LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When I was fourteen years old, I was diagnosed with scoliosis and wasn’t medically cleared to continue to play sports. The curvature of my back was so bad at the time. I was devastated because I couldn’t continue to do what I loved to do, which was play sports. When high school came around, I couldn’t try out for any team and my schedule was changed to be removed from the basketball period. I was the enrolled in theatre arts. It was in theatre arts where I would eventually realize that my passion wasn’t playing sports specifically. My passion is entertaining others and causing them to feel a range of emotions. From theatre arts, I found a passion that allowed for me to still feel the euphoria that I felt when I was playing sports. I have modeled my whole business model around serving others. I would define myself as an entrepreneur that has many different passions. “NoChillSaint” is the moniker I have adapted based off traits of my personality and passions. One of the passions I have is creating music. I love writing, recording, and performing the songs I create. I have been creating music for over 7 years since 2016. To fund this passion and bring it to life, I helped co-found a start-up record company known as “Rated Under Entertainment.” Being able to create meaningful works of art that others can relate to and enjoy brings me great joy. In addition to creating music, I also create, manage, and market my own social media content. I use the music I create to inspire some of the social media content I post. My passion to create things allows for me to bring smiles to other’s faces. I have been creating entertaining social media content since 2014, and I have successfully grown 3 different Instagram pages to accumulate over 10,000 followers. A few other noteworthy businesses I’ve created are known as “Saint Enterprises” and “No Chill LLC.” These businesses allow for me to take on various tasks that allows for me to serve others (personal training, e-commerce, stand-alone machines, etc.). Aside from the entities I own and operate myself, I also work a 9-5 job in a corporate space. I analyze data and create the content/marketing for a major real estate software company. This career allows for me to enjoy, curate, and cultivate the passions I currently have while also allowing me to discover other interests I have. What sets me apart from others is my ability to learn and ability to become good at things with practice. I have a knack for picking things up quickly after I practice it a few times. Diligence beats innate ability when the person with innate ability fails to be diligent. My greatest strength is my ability to make things that I see in my mind an actual reality. Everything I’ve set my mind to, I have accomplished eventually.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I have learned a lot of lessons, and I define myself by being able to learn from my mistakes and evolve, but the biggest lesson I learned is self-love. I used to hate not being “great” at any one thing, but in learning to love myself, I have learned that I am great at being good at a lot of things. I accept my versatility instead of being ashamed of it. There were a lot of things I used to hate about myself because I had given all my admiration, kindness, and affection away to others. Don’t give away all of the love you possess if you don’t have any love left for yourself. You should treat your self-love the same way you’re supposed to treat your savings account: always take care of yourself first. You should pay yourself first each paycheck, and you should pay yourself first when it comes to giving out love. They tell you to secure your mask on an airplane before assisting anyone else’s for a reason! What good are you to others if you aren’t alright yourself?
