Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodi.
Hi Jodi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My path to pet care has been a natural blend of creativity and compassion. I come from a background in commercial photography, where I learned the value of patience, attention to detail, and truly understanding my subject. Alongside that work, I’ve always been deeply involved with animals, including volunteering at a local animal shelter—an experience that continues to shape how I approach care, trust, and safety.
Paws & Plants Plano grew out of bringing those two worlds together: a lifelong love of animals and a professional foundation rooted in reliability and service. I grew up surrounded by pets and even ran a small pet-sitting business as a kid, so caring for animals has always felt second nature. My photography background adds an extra layer to the experience, and clients genuinely enjoy the pet portraits and image updates they receive while I’m caring for their pets.
Today, I focus on providing in-home pet care throughout Plano, Texas. I’m fully insured, background-checked, and committed to giving pet owners peace of mind while offering animals calm, consistent, and thoughtful care in their own environment. Whether I’m caring for pets, plants, or homes, my goal is always the same: to treat every space and every animal with the same respect and attention I’d want for my own.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting and growing Paws & Plants Plano hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but the challenges have been valuable learning experiences. Building trust as a small, local business takes time, especially in a role where people are trusting you with their homes and beloved pets. Establishing credibility, setting clear systems, and learning how to balance reliability with flexibility were all early hurdles.
There were also the everyday challenges that come with working independently—wearing many hats, managing schedules, and continually improving services while maintaining high standards of care. Through it all, staying consistent, insured, background-checked, and focused on safety helped build confidence with clients. Each challenge reinforced the importance of professionalism, communication, and treating every pet as if they were my own.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Paws & Plants Plano?

I specialize in caring for pets in their own homes, where they’re most comfortable, while also tending to plants and keeping an eye on the home for added peace of mind.
What sets my business apart is the level of professionalism paired with truly personal care. I’m fully insured, background-checked, and committed to clear communication, reliability, and safety at every step. My background in commercial photography adds a unique element to the experience—clients love receiving thoughtful photo updates and pet portraits while they’re away. It’s a simple touch, but it helps people feel connected and reassured, and it reflects how closely I pay attention to each pet’s personality and comfort.
I’m especially proud of the trust the Paws & Plants brand has built within the community. Volunteering at a local animal shelter and caring for pets of all temperaments has deepened my understanding of animal behavior and reinforced my calm, consistent approach. For me, this work isn’t just a service—it’s a responsibility I take seriously and a role I truly enjoy.
I want readers to know that Paws & Plants Plano is about dependable, compassionate care. Whether it’s pets, plants, or homes, everything is treated as if it were my own, with safety, integrity, and kindness always coming first.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality most important to my success is trustworthiness. In pet care, clients aren’t just hiring a service—they’re trusting someone with their homes and animals, which are incredibly personal parts of their lives. I take that responsibility seriously by showing up consistently, communicating clearly, and prioritizing safety in everything I do.
That trust is built through calm, attentive care and treating every pet as an individual. Being patient, observant, and reliable allows both pets and their owners to feel comfortable and confident, and that foundation of trust is what has allowed my business to grow through long-term relationships and referrals.
