Hi Jung, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Ggez Gaming Cafe began as a dream shared by three brothers—me, the youngest, David, the middle brother, and Josh, the eldest. We all had one thing in common: a deep love for gaming. Gaming wasn’t just a hobby for us; it was a way to escape, unwind, and reconnect when life felt overwhelming. Whether we were stressed or just needed a break from the world, gaming provided that perfect outlet for us to recharge and have fun together.
As time passed, we started meeting so many wonderful people through tournaments and gaming events. It was amazing to see how gaming brought everyone together—whether they were competing, bonding with friends, or enjoying a solo session. Watching people grow and find joy in the same way we did was truly heartwarming.
Through all of this, one thing became crystal clear: we wanted to create a place where everyone could feel that same sense of joy and connection. Ggez Gaming Cafe was born from the simple desire to spread happiness, bring smiles to faces, and create a welcoming space where everyone could enjoy the magic of gaming, just like we always had.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest struggles we faced was during the COVID-19 pandemic, just two years after we opened the doors to Ggez Gaming Cafe. It felt like everything we had worked so hard for was suddenly put on hold. Our name had just begun to spread, and we were starting to build a community when COVID hit, forcing us to shut down. As an entertainment business, we were deeply affected—suddenly, the place we had built to bring people joy and connection was silent. It was heartbreaking.
Those months were difficult for all of us. We missed seeing the familiar faces, the laughter, and the energy that filled the cafe. But despite the weight of it all, we remained thankful. Thankful that we had each other, thankful that we still had our passion for gaming, and thankful for the hope that one day we could bring happiness to others once more.
What truly carried us through was our unwavering desire to keep going, to continue gathering people through the love of gaming. It was that burning passion that fueled us to push forward, even when it felt like everything was falling apart. And most importantly, it was the bond between us as brothers. We kept each other from giving up, supporting and encouraging one another when it felt like all was lost. We were, without a doubt, like the Three Musketeers—stronger together, and never giving up, no matter the challenge. It wasn’t easy, but we made it through, and we’re here now, ready to bring that same joy back to the world, one game at a time.
We’ve been impressed with GGEZ Gaming Cafe, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
GGEZ Gaming Cafe is more than just a place to game—it’s a community where everyone is welcome to come, play, and enjoy each other’s company. As gaming has grown, we’ve made it our mission to give everyone access to that incredible esports experience, especially for those who may not have had the chance to experience it before.
Over the years, we’ve had the honor of hosting some of the biggest names in the gaming world—players and teams like TenZ, Kyedae, Cloud9, FaZe, BDS, G2, and so many others. It’s been incredible to see such talent in our space, and it’s only motivated us to keep growing and improving.
As one of the co-owners of GGEZ, I’m the one who’s most hands-on with our amazing gamers. Whether it’s helping with tech issues, offering tips for that next big game, or just encouraging someone to go for that Ace in Valorant (you know, taking out the whole enemy team!), I’m here to make sure everyone has the best experience possible. But above all, I want every person who walks through our doors to feel like part of the GGEZ family.
