Hidden Gems: Meet Katherine & Tenille Co-Owner Emily Brewer of Katherine & Tenille

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine & Tenille Co-Owner Emily Brewer.

Hi Katherine & Tenille co-owner Emily Brewer, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all began with a tiny, brave message! One friend asked an old friend to join together for an endeavor… not knowing what… and next, the idea was born for a boutique with global, artisan beauties… and an ocean-sized heart for sea-saving philanthropy. After almost three years, the imagination of Katherine & Tenille has taken all the steps from branding, to product sourcing, to online store launch, and finally to brick-and-mortar launch in Las Colinas, Texas.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is really challenging to get property owners and financial lenders to say “Yes!” to businesses who are so brand-new that there exists very little paperwork to back the launch. So, we had to take patience and confidence with us to every meeting, a sometimes seemingly endless journey! But there is always a “Yes!” waiting along the road somewhere. Thanks to a handful of a few wonderful people who believed in our efforts, we secured a small start-up loan and a gentle retail lease to begin our store.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Katherine & Tenille?
We are a specialty women’s boutique highlighting global goods with artisan products and gorgeous apparel. Our oceanic theme lends itself toward our unending devotion to our sea-based philanthropic efforts, donating profit shares to ocean conservancy and cleanup, as well and generating ocean wellness awareness in all we can possibly do. Over 90% of our lines are women-owned entities, and we are honored to find and offer inventory from every corner of the globe.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
We continue to take major risks every day! As one of our three co-owners is the daughter of a small restauranteur, we know at K&T the infinite line of risk always involved with operations and existence. But there is no life without risk! We are happy to be alive at K&T and doing all we can to bring something special to the world of our community in person and the whole earth online!
