– Humble beginnings
– Used education as the key to unlock opportunity
– Through over 20 years I rose through the ranks at 7-Eleven to become President & CEO
– Oversaw the sale of 7-Eleven to its Japanese Licensee, Ito Yokado
-Took on the challenge of transforming Blockbuster and guided the company through 2008-2009 financial crisis to a restructuring and sale to Dish Networks
-Wrote best selling book…Education is Freedom
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Poverty, broken home, condemnation house, death of parent…among other adverse situations while growing up…led to an inner strength and resilience. Today I live by the belief that Change Equals Opportunity and that adversity can lead to strength.
