Today we’d like to introduce you to Khadijah Rahman.
Khadijah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in the medical field in 2005. Helping people has always been my passion. I’ve done cardio, internal medicine, oncology, family practice, OBGYN and medical esthetics. Medical esthetics was my passion but short lived because I was not an esthetician. I moved on to work in the hospital setting but always had a desire to go back to medical esthetics where I did laser lips and hydrafacials, I went back to school for esthetics, graduated, obtained my license and quickly gained enough clientele to quit my hospital job and start my own business with employees, Rich Skin by Khadijah.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was very scary leaving my stable job at the hospital with benefits. Especially right before COVID-19. I took a leap of faith and quit my job in February 2019 and the world shut down in March 2019 but I believed in myself and my skills and pushed through and worked harder when everything opened. My business grew faster. I needed a whole team of people to keep the business thriving.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Rich Skin by Khadijah?
My brand included everything spa. It is best known for facials. Back facials, butt facials, light massages, vajacials (bikini line facials) beard treatments. I differ from other esthetician’s because of my medical background. The healing of skin is understood. Anatomy kick in and it increases my ability to heal skin faster. I have 75% male clients, which is very rare in the beauty industry. Men trust factor is slim to none. With the results I give, they don’t hesitate.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My ability to heal the skin with less chemical. I like to stay holistic but I’m realistic. Meaning I take the natural way but if it’s not effective I will use chemical induced products to get quicker and better results if necessary.
