Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Nguyen.
Hi Kim, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 10 years, starting out with acrylic nails. But after years of working around strong chemicals, I began experiencing constant migraines. When I moved to Dallas and transitioned into a holistic day spa, everything clicked — I realized the fumes I had been inhaling were affecting my health.
At the spa, I fell in love with providing clients a calming, luxurious, and holistic experience, and I discovered a new passion for skincare. Still, I missed the creativity and endless possibilities of nail art. I also wanted to give my skincare clients real, noticeable results.
So I decided to combine both worlds. That’s how Sonder Esthetics and Nail Care was born — a space where clients can enjoy a holistic, luxury experience while still receiving the artistry, creativity, and results-driven care that inspire me every day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship is far from easy. Before Sonder Esthetics and Nail Care even opened, I realized I had underestimated how much it would truly cost to start a business — and I had no idea how to attract clients. I even spent money on a so-called “magic course,” hoping it would give me quick answers, only to learn there are no shortcuts. In the end, I had to return to what I knew best: my skills, my training, and the quality of care I give my clients. Once I focused on my craft instead of looking for tricks, everything finally started to grow naturally.
It has not been a smooth road, but it’s definitely worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Sonder Esthetics and Nail Care is more than my business — it’s a reflection of my journey, my healing, and everything I love about beauty and wellness. After being in the industry for over 10 years, I wanted to create a space that felt genuine, peaceful, and personal. A place where people feel truly seen.
At Sonder, I specialize in holistic skincare and non-toxic nail care. I focus on treatments that help clients feel better, not just look better — from calming, results-driven facials to builder gel manicures that keep nails healthy without harsh chemicals. What I’m most known for is giving clients a luxury experience without the rush, without the pressure, and without the toxins that originally affected my own health.
What sets me apart is that I combine two worlds most places keep separate: creative nail artistry and holistic, corrective skincare. I’ve always loved the creativity of nails, and I’ve grown to love the science and intention behind skincare — so I brought them together in one space. It feels like the most honest expression of who I am.
Brand-wise, I’m proud of the atmosphere I’ve built. Sonder feels warm and moody and safe — like a reset button for your mind. I put so much of myself into every detail, from the treatments I offer to the way I greet every client. People tell me they feel calm the moment they walk in, and that’s truly the best compliment.
What I want readers to know is this: at Sonder Esthetics, everything is intentional. I pour my heart, my experience, and my creativity into each service. My goal is to make every client feel understood, nurtured, and confident — because I know how much beauty and wellness can change someone’s day, or even their life.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think the beauty industry is shifting toward something much more intentional. For a long time, beauty was about quick fixes, heavy filters, and trends that came and went. But now, and especially over the next 5–10 years, I believe clients will care less about superficial results and more about long-term skin health, wellness, and how treatments make them feel.
People are becoming more educated. They’re paying attention to ingredients, formulas, and the impact certain chemicals have on their skin, nails, and overall health. I think we’ll see a major move toward cleaner practices — from non-toxic nail systems to barrier-focused skincare and treatments that support the body instead of over-stressing it.
Holistic and results-driven services will continue to grow side by side. Clients want treatments that are therapeutic and relaxing, but they also want real results without compromising their health. That balance is going to become the new standard.
I also think the industry will move toward more personalized care. Cookie-cutter facials and rushed appointments won’t resonate anymore. Clients are looking for estheticians who take time, understand their lifestyle, and create customized plans that feel thoughtful and sustainable.
Overall, the future of beauty is intentional, informed, and more connected to wellbeing — which is exactly the direction I’ve built Sonder Esthetics and Nail Care around.
