Today we’d like to introduce you to KK Yin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
– to capture the most genuine feelings in the life
When we first building up a photographic team, being able to find the right time to press the shutter seemed to be the most important practice. To this day, this most basic professional skill still is the goal of the team pursuit. The only difference is we also want to make sure that the moment captured in the lens should also contain the stories, emotions, and feelings.
The reason that we want the pictures to tell the stories is from a character documentary job. A busy family of three came to our team and asked us to take a family photo for them. Our society, living pace, work, and everything is moving so fast that people living under the one roof seem to need a physical evidence like a family photo to show that they are actually a family. When we just started the phone shooting, it’s so normal for them to be awkward on camera, just like most of our clients feeling unfamiliar with lenses and fill lights. One of our professional skills as photographers is to put our client at ease, both physically and emotionally. Our photographer suggested the parents to organize their kid’s cloth and hair. Unexpectedly, after that, the family members seemed to relax a lot, with expressions and body opened up. All the people on the scene could feel the happiness. Although the photos had not yet been adjusted and printed, the team was confident that they would be a beautiful set of photos. When the job was done, the clients came to shake hands with us, showed their appreciation, and praised our professionalism. The father told us that perhaps it has been a long time since he has been so close and calm to communicate with the kid, and he felt full of warmth and touching. And of course, we saw the family of three appear happy from the heart in the pictures we took for them.
Our team wanted to convey the emotions and stories of the characters through the work. We want the camera to record not only color but also some more contents. We want to show our clients that when they review the photos, they can remember the scene and relive that moment to feel what they felt at that time.
The members of my team are still constantly learning and exploring. We are fascinated by the power of portrait photography to convey many subtle emotions and stories. We felt the greatest happiness when we take the photos of every client, family, or wedding, graduation just like the clients feel. We want to capture every moment so that the next person who looks through the photos can feel the stories and emotions that the photos tell.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I would say it is indeed a pretty smooth road. Most of our clients are so nice to work with. Some small issues would for sure pop out from here and there, but we work as a team and resolve the problems together. And for sure we would love to attract more clients. As a start-up, small business, expand our customer market would be one tough task that we need to take care.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are very professional with the wedding ceremony and reception events, marriage registration, and family photos. We take photo shooting for all kind of needs.
What makes us different than other would be we want the photos to tell stories. We did realize that people would love to post a set of 10 photos or at least 3+ pictures on the social media. While taking the pictures of the clients, we make sure the pictures can be a storytelling sets. For example, for the marriage registration photo, we will take the photos of bride and groom individually and then them together later. So, the viewers can also take steps to see the individuals finally become a family.
For offers to those who fight for the Covid-19, as our greatest respect and appreciation, we provide one free career professional photo for first responders.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
When I was a kid, my mom took a lot of pictures of me and made an album out of them. The happiness moments for me is actually reviewing those old photos with her and listening to her descriptions of each photo. Once in a while, we will sit down together and have some peaceful time diving into our old memories. Every time she would remember something that she never told me or share some feelings that she has new. I always feel so unspeakable from my heart. I laugh when she tells me my childhood embarrassment, I think deeply when she share the regrets. So, for me, the happiest memories are not only from my childhood but also the time I spent with my parents when we thinking of the old days.
