Hi Klysta, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey as a nail artist and salon owner of Exquisite Nails Boutique 5 years ago. I have always been ambitious however I never knew exactly where this business venture would take me. It all stated after passing the Texas cosmetology state board exams and earning my manicurist license. I was working in various nail salons around Dallas for a while then the pandemic hit. Everything came to a halt. However, following the pandemic I took a leap of faith and opened my own private salon suite. It was a big decision, but I believed every step no matter how risky would be worth it. I built my clientele in the beginning the old fashion way by putting flyers in car windshields, networking with businesses and other entrepreneurs, utilizing social media and word of mouth referrals. As my clientele grew so did my ambition. Eventually I entered the world of competitive nail artistry and technique and haven’t looked back since. Today, I’m proud to be a 5-time Nailympia Winner’s Circle champion and currently competing in the North American Nail Star Artist competition. I’ve always had a competitive spirit, and these events push me to grow and innovate in my work. Beyond competition and client services, I’m passionate about education. Not just of my own but for others as well. I offer classes to help other aspiring nail professionals develop their skills and build successful careers of their own. I’m beyond grateful for everything I have achieved and all the support I have received. Ready to take the next steps to continue growing and inspiring others!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would love to say it was a smooth road. However no it has not been at all! Many struggles along the way including times I just wanted to give up. I never did and never will.
