Kyla, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hey there! I’m Kyla Alexander, A Makeup Artist in the DFW area I started doing makeup as a way to express my art and a way to help me mentally. Makeup to me was therapeutic I loved how it boosted my confidence when I completed a look, I saw how it made me feel so I wanted to help reciprocate that feeling unto others. I love when I am done with a client the look on their faces would brighten up my whole day, it made me feel as if I had a purpose in this world.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Becoming a makeup artist FULLTIME has a lot of Obstacles to it. There has been times where I wanted to quit and go to a 9-5 because I was not getting any bookings, there was times I would cry and Pray for a change. I had sleepless nights trying to find a solution of a way I can reach a wider audience and showcase my art.

I am a makeup Artist that Specializes in Soft Sultry Glams. I also have my own cosmetic Brand, I sell luxury lashes, lip glosses, and Natural skincare. What sets me apart from others is my passion, my passion for makeup shows in my attitude and my work. I have been doing this since I was 16 years old and now as a 22-year-old young lady, my passion for it has never faded.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice for any upcoming Makeup artists is Invest in yourself. This field is a fun field but you need to be sure that this is what you want to for a job. Clients can literally sense if you’re only in this for the money. Do not quit your full-time job if you’re only going to go back, research about the field to make sure it is something for you.
