Lajoshua Daniels discovered his passion for law enforcement in 2016 and decided to embark on a career in security to test the waters. After two years of dedicated service as a patrolman and supervisor, he identified significant industry shortcomings and a pervasive lack of professionalism. This inspired him to establish his own security company, Criminal Investigation Division, in 2018. As his company thrived and expanded throughout Dallas-Fort Worth and into Houston, Lajoshua found a name change to Lonestar Defense Group necessary to better represent their growing presence and commitment to excellence.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing Lonestar Defense Group has been no small feat. We faced significant obstacles, from finding truly dedicated officers to training officers to meet rigorous standards. The fierce competition didn’t help either, with other companies resorting to price-cutting measures that lowered the overall quality and standard of security services. This undercutting made it incredibly challenging to secure contracts at reasonable rates despite the high levels of professionalism and quality that Lonestar Defense Group maintained. Due to undercutting, we often find a client likes what we have to offer, but after we send pricing, some clients will ask for rates we can not even sufficiently pay our officer with, let alone operate with. Navigating through these challenges required immense perseverance and a steadfast commitment to upholding the integrity and values of the company.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned on this journey is the significance of surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals who align with your vision and share the same goals. I’ve realized that friendships can sometimes become distractions if those you’re close to don’t support your overarching objectives. It’s essential to cultivate relationships with those who encourage and motivate you to stay on track, as this alignment fosters a collective drive towards excellence and impact. By staying focused and collaborating with individuals who are equally committed to enhancing security services, we can work together to create safer environments and inspire others to prioritize community well-being.

- On-Site Vehicles: $10-20/hour
- K9: $180 response then $65/hour with 6 hour minimum
- Mobile Patrol: $1300-2600/month
