Hidden Gems: Meet Laura Botelho of Laura Botelho Interiors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Botelho

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m originally from Houston, Texas, and I’m the daughter to Cuban and Mexican immigrants. Before I started designing, I worked as a director of communications for a fortune 300 hotel company and travelled 30% of my time internationally. When I had my daughter, I realized my job was no longer cohesive to my new life as a mom and I decided to follow a passion of mine that I always wanted to explore, which was interior design. I started out by taking home staging courses and working with several realtors. I then had my son 5 years ago and I took a break, but also started exploring virtual interior design and worked from home. Then the pandemic hit and my virtual designs took off. When people started interacting more in person, my designs became more in person and now my business has become what it is today thanks to word of mouth from my wonderful clients.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In starting your own business, there is never a smooth road. There was a lot of trial and error in terms of pricing, finding the best 3rd party crews to help me execute my client designs at a price that was competitive for the area, and also finding my right work life balance to be present at home for my husband and my kids.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Laura Botelho Interiors?
Laura Botelho Interiors is a full service interior designer based in Frisco, TX and serving greater DFW. I design interiors for real life, incorporating elevated elements while still focusing on functional design. I help homeowners create a sophisticated, stylish home environment at an affordable price so they can feel proud and comfortable in their homes.

I take a very collaborative approach with my clients to really understand their budget and practical needs for each project, while still making their Pinterest dreams come true, from one room to an entire house!

I also offer Virtual Design for clients across the US and home staging for occupied or unoccupied homes here in the greater DFW area to help home owners receive top dollar when selling their homes.

What makes you happy?
Being able to do what I love, support my family financially, still have a great work life balance, and be able to meet and work with amazing clients and families everyday to make their Pinterest dreams come true is what truly makes me happy.

Traveling is also what fills my heart and my passion for design stems from my love of travel, cultures and architecture. I pull a lot of my inspiration from the cities and countries I’ve lived in and visited and try to get away with my family whenever we can.
