Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Reeder.
Hi Lisa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My career has been shaped by a mix of curiosity, responsibility, and a deep appreciation for how good systems can make life easier for people. I started out in operations and program management roles, where I spent more than a decade leading cross-functional teams, untangling complex processes, and helping organizations work better from the inside out.
Over time, I became the person teams called when things felt messy, and no one quite knew where to start.
After years of working in larger organizations, I began to notice something important — especially among small business owners and nonprofit leaders across North Texas. I kept hearing the same sentence: “I’m embarrassed to admit I don’t really understand my books.” These were capable, driven people building service-based businesses, creative ventures, and community-focused organizations, but bookkeeping felt intimidating or disconnected from how their work actually operated day-to-day. Too often, I saw them making decisions without clear financial insight simply because the process felt inaccessible.
That realization led me to start Bookli. I built the business with Dallas-area founders in mind — people who are growing quickly, wearing many hats, and who value clarity over complexity. Today, I work closely with clients to clean up, organize, and maintain their books so they can understand their numbers and move forward with confidence. The path here hasn’t been linear, but every step — from leading teams to building my own company — has reinforced the same lesson: when you combine structure with empathy, you create space for people and businesses to grow. That’s the work I’m most proud of doing now, right here in North Texas.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was stepping away from the stability of a long, established career to build something entirely on my own. After years of working inside structured organizations, I had to learn how to make decisions without a built-in safety net — from setting boundaries with clients to trusting my own judgment when there was no roadmap to follow.
Another struggle was navigating the early stages of entrepreneurship while maintaining high standards. I care deeply about doing things the right way, and that sometimes meant moving more slowly than I wanted to, especially while I was building systems, refining my services, and figuring out what kind of business I truly wanted to run. There were moments when it felt tempting to say yes to everything, but learning when to say no — and why — has been one of the most important lessons so far.
Perhaps the most personal challenge has been unlearning the idea that asking for help or taking things step by step is a weakness. Building a business requires resilience, patience, and support. Over time, I’ve learned that progress doesn’t always look loud or fast. Sometimes it looks like quiet consistency, steady growth, and trusting that you’re building something sustainable. That mindset shift has made all the difference.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At its core, Bookli is a bookkeeping and financial support firm built for small businesses, nonprofits, and service-based founders who want clarity without judgment. I specialize in QuickBooks Online setup, cleanup, and ongoing monthly bookkeeping, with a strong focus on reconciliations, clean financial reporting, and systems that actually reflect how a business operates day to day.
What sets Bookli apart is its treatment of structure and empathy as equally important. Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, behind, or even embarrassed about their books. I’ve built my services around meeting people where they are, untangling what’s messy, and creating simple, repeatable processes that give them confidence in their numbers again. The goal isn’t just clean books — it’s helping clients understand what their financials are telling them so they can make informed decisions.
I work primarily with small businesses and nonprofits across Dallas and North Texas — people who are growing, wearing many hats, and building meaningful work in their communities. I’m especially known for cleanup projects and for taking on complex situations that others shy away from, whether that’s multiple bank accounts, third-party integrations, nonprofit fund tracking, or months (or years) of backlog. I bring a highly organized, systems-driven approach, but I also take the time to explain the “why” behind the work so clients aren’t left in the dark.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust Bookli has earned. I’ve intentionally built a brand that feels professional but approachable, modern but warm. Clients know they can ask questions, admit confusion, and collaborate openly without feeling judged. That trust shows up in long-term relationships, referrals, and the confidence clients gain once they finally feel in control of their finances.
What I want readers to know is that Bookli isn’t just about bookkeeping — it’s about creating breathing room. When your financial foundation is solid and understandable, everything else becomes easier. My work is about giving people the foundation they need to build, grow, and sustain the businesses and organizations that make North Texas such a vibrant place to work and live.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is a sense of calm and order — especially after things have felt busy or chaotic. I love the moment when something finally clicks, when a client understands their numbers for the first time or realizes they’re not as far behind as they thought. Being able to reduce someone else’s stress, even in a small way, is incredibly meaningful to me.
On a more personal level, I’m happiest in simple, everyday moments. I love creating cozy, intentional spaces at home, working on a creative project, or settling into a routine that feels grounding rather than rushed. I also value deep, genuine conversations and relationships — the kind where people feel comfortable being honest and fully themselves.
Happiness, for me, comes from alignment and balance. When my work feels purposeful, my life feels steady, and I’m making space for creativity and connection, everything else falls into place. I’ve learned that happiness doesn’t have to be loud or complicated — it often lives in the quiet moments where things feel just right.
