Today we’d like to introduce you to Lovely April.
Hi lovely, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I always knew I wanted to do hair since a kid, started with dolls, then myself, and on to family. As I got older the urge to wanting to do hair never left so I knew this was my destiny. Went to cosmetology school 5 times 3 different schools, I was struggling with consistency and discipline until one day I got in trouble with the law, that got me straight quick I went back to school enrolled at Ogle Hair Skin and Nails and completed school I’ve being licensed 8 yrs. now. Still in the field doing what I love to do.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh no not at all, lol nothing is a smooth road in life it all comes with bumps and bruises, it takes time to build a legacy along the way I struggled with being a dependable stylist, and it took a while for me to show my clients I was dependable I had to be consistent with myself first so I could be consistent with my clients, I struggled with time management, I had to set rules for myself so that I could be on time for my clients. I struggled with being a business owner period lol it took me 4 years to get my business in the order it is now which is consistent dependable booked and busy month to month, there is no day that I’m not booked and that was one of my goals and I’ve mastered that goal.
We’ve been impressed with L.A.D.I Lovely April Did It, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
L.A.D.I. is my brand that I started 2016 I’m a Loctician I do dread locs on men women and kids, I’m known for my styles and my neatness, I have my own style to my locs and I make sure the way I do your locs is for you and you only, I’m most proud that I’ve being in business, etc. 2016 and I’m still building my brand and it has not sink it’s climbing. I started my own product line L.A.D.I which includes a stronghold loc gel that is for locs, braids, and edges, also a Rose Water Hydrating Mist for Locs, and last but not least my Reduced Shedding Hair Growth Oil, I’m very proud to put my name behind my brand.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see my business reaching its full potential in the next 5 to 10 years, where I’m not behind a chair anymore I will have a team that’s standing behind my brand as I do.
