Hidden Gems: Meet Lyle Wise of Miracle On 134th Street

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyle Wise.

Hi Lyle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We were searching for a Christmas event that we could share with our children and grandchildren. Something truly sentimental and authentic to the spirit of Christmas. When we couldn’t find anything that reflected that vision, we realized we had the opportunity to create it ourselves on our 43-acre venue. In 2021, our family came together with the decision to bring this idea to life, and that’s when Miracle on 134th Street was born.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. We launched this project in the middle of the COVID pandemic, which made for a very difficult start. On top of that, our venue was struck by two separate tornadoes, bringing unexpected challenges and setbacks. Still, with the dedication of our incredible employees and the support of loyal visitors, we’ve been able to overcome those hardships and keep moving forward.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Miracle On 134th Street?
We are a proud, family-owned business built on strong values and a genuine commitment to community. While many venues and events can feel transactional, at Miracle on 134th Street we work hard to ensure every guest feels like more than just another customer. We place a high priority on building relationships, offering outstanding hospitality, and creating a warm, welcoming environment where families feel cared for.

What truly sets us apart is our unique outdoor setting. It provides a Christmas experience unlike anything else. Yes, the rides, festive food, dazzling lights, and Santa meet-and-greet are all part of the magic. But what keeps people coming back year after year is the atmosphere, the characters you meet, the joy that fills the air, and the sense of belonging that our guests say they feel when they’re here.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Be prepared to work harder than you ever expected. When you start a new business, it’s easy to assume success will come quickly, but in reality, it usually takes far longer. You’ll find yourself putting in long hours and learning skills you never imagined you’d need.

Just as important, you have to genuinely care for every customer. People can tell the difference between a business that truly values them and one that only sees them as a transaction. If you stay humble, work hard, and treat people the way you’d want to be treated, you give yourself the best chance to build something that not only thrives but also makes a lasting impact.
