Hidden Gems: Meet Lyndsay Smith of Lyndsay Renee Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyndsay Smith.

Hi Lyndsay , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved being creative and bringing people together. I started by planning and decorating events for friends and family, and eventually decided to turn that passion into a business. Events were my first love, but when I was given the opportunity to begin offering wedding coordination alongside a photographer, that side of my business quickly took off.

Through coordination, I realized how much I love getting to know my couples and witnessing the special moments that make each wedding so meaningful—the nervous excitement before the ceremony, the way a couple looks at each other, and the love shared between their families. I don’t just manage timelines and details; I help create the space for my couples to be fully present and enjoy those moments.

The name Lyndsay Renee Events is also very special to me because Lyndsay Renee is my first and middle name, chosen by my mom. She has passed away, but she was always my biggest supporter. The butterfly in my logo is a way of carrying her memory with me and including her in something I know she would be proud of.

Building this business has shown me that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. Sometimes, you simply have to believe in yourself and take the first step. I hope my story encourages someone else to do the same and see where it may lead.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was simply not knowing where to begin. Starting a business can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re still building your confidence, learning the industry, and trying to earn people’s trust.

Instead of letting that stop me, I reached out to others in the industry and was fortunate to find some amazing people who were willing to mentor me, share their knowledge, and help me grow. I’ve learned that it’s okay not to know everything when you’re starting—you learn through experience, accept that mistakes are part of the process, and keep improving along the way.

It takes passion, persistence, and a leap of faith, but you may be surprised by how many people are willing to support you once you’re brave enough to ask. I’m still learning and growing every day, but I truly love what I do, and that makes every challenge worth it.
