Mariaanna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We’re a husband-and-wife duo who started Santitos in the summer of 2024, specializing in authentic Mexican drink concentrates. Santitos grew out of our former popsicle shop, Encanto Pops, a neighborhood favorite that served Oak Cliff for eight years. After the shop closed, we felt the recipes were too special to leave behind. So we decided to turn what was once a popsicle into bold, concentrated drink mixes made for local coffee shops and restaurants.
Our recipes and ingredients have always been at the heart of what we do and we’ve stayed true to the same quality and flavor our community came to love. We’ve launched with three of our most popular flavors—Horchata, Café de Olla, and Michelada—and we’re excited to share even more in the future.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting Santitos has certainly been a journey with its fair share of challenges. Like any small business, it’s a tough road—navigating the delicate balance between building a community, gaining recognition in a competitive market, and building meaningful partnerships in the food service industry. While we’ve been perfecting our recipes for years, it’s the behind-the-scenes work of growing the brand, navigating the ups and downs and overcoming obstacles that has truly tested us. Ultimately, each challenge we face is a learning opportunity and we know that those experiences will play a role in shaping our future.
