Hidden Gems: Meet Marian Diop of The Marian Method

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marian Diop.

Hi Marian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I spent years in corporate, senior regional roles in insurance and financial services, managing teams and driving revenue. I was good at it. But I kept watching brilliant women play small and stay quiet. I was doing it too.
In 2020 I went full time in my businesses. I had been running a photography studio alongside my corporate career for years, so the foundation was already there. I rebranded into two studios: Icon By M for executive headshots and corporate photography, and Bare By M for luxury boudoir. Both exist for the same reason: to put women in front of a camera and let them see themselves differently.
The Marian Method is where the coaching lives. Mindset, systems, sales. Helping women build businesses that actually pay them.
Three brands, one through line. What would change if you stopped hiding?

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. Not even close.
2020 was a wild time to go full time in anything. But the harder struggle was internal. I had spent years executing someone else’s vision. Learning to sell myself, price my worth, and sit with an inconsistent income was a whole different skill set. Nobody hands you that.
I also tried to build three brands at the same time. There were seasons where I was running on empty and still not close to what I made in salary. That will make you question everything.
And there is a real thing that happens when you own a boudoir studio and also want to be taken seriously as a business coach. I have had to work to establish credibility in rooms that would have dismissed me otherwise. I got clear on who I am and stopped letting that bother me. But it took time.
The road is better now. I just had to earn it first.

We’ve been impressed with The Marian Method, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At the core, everything I do is about helping women be fully seen. That shows up three different ways.
Icon By M is executive headshots and corporate photography for professionals who are ready to show up with intention. Not just a photo for LinkedIn but a first impression that actually reflects who they are and where they are going.
Bare By M is luxury boudoir. It is not about lingerie, it is about reclamation. Most of my clients come in having never done anything like it. They leave with something they cannot explain until they are standing in front of the images. I have watched women cry. I have watched women stand taller. That work changes people.
The Marian Method is the coaching and consulting side. I work with women entrepreneurs on mindset, sales systems, and business strategy. A lot of my clients are high achieving women who are great at what they do and still somehow undercharging, underplaying, and waiting for permission to go bigger. I help them stop waiting.
What sets me apart is that I have actually done it. I am not teaching theory. I built businesses from the ground up while raising kids, leaving a six figure career, and figuring it out in real time. I bring that corporate background into everything, the strategy, the systems, the sales training. It is practical and it is personal.
What I am most proud of is the through line. Three very different businesses that all point to the same thing. A woman who books a boudoir session and a woman who joins a coaching program are solving the same problem. They are ready to stop shrinking.
That is what this is all about.

What does success mean to you?
For a long time success looked like a number. A revenue goal, a title, a metric I could point to. That is what corporate trains you to chase. And there is nothing wrong with it. I still care about numbers. A business that does not make money is a hobby.
But now success feels more like freedom. Can I work with people I actually want to work with? Can I be honest about what I offer and charge what it is worth? Can I show up fully, all three brands, the coaching and the boudoir and the headshots, without shrinking any part of it to make someone else comfortable?
When I see a client walk out of a session or finish a coaching program and something has shifted in how she carries herself, that is it. That is the thing. She is not the same person she was when she walked in and she knows it.
