Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Munoz.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always had a passion for music and making events fun, exciting, and memorable experiences. I started back in 2009 emceeing different events for 105.3 The Fan, while my cousin (Mix-n-Rick) would DJ. In 2010 we had a gentlemen ask us if we would do his daughter’s Quinceañera. We accepted and from that one Quince we had 2 other guests hire us for their daughter’s Quinceañeras. Then in 2011, I saw a billboard on I35 that said Dallas Bridal Show at the Market Hall, so I contacted Bridal Show Inc. and got us a vendor booth… We ended up booking 8 couples from that show! We starting going to the Dallas Bridal Show in January and July and each time we would book about 6 to 8 couples. Then in 2014, I made a profile on The Knot (a wedding website for couples to find vendors). I started telling couples to leave a review on that site and we made Best of The Knot in the DJ category for 2020, 2021, and 2022. We now book couples from referrals, The Knot, or by couples searching the internet. We love for our couples and their guests to have a good time and fill up the dance floor 🙂 We love what we do!!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Our journey has been a pretty smooth road, the only struggles we had were underestimating our value for our services when we first started. I’ve always said, “The reason why people are successful at something, is because they just dive into and do it”!
