Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Jiggins.
Miranda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I would love to share my story! Not many people believe me when I tell them this, but it started with humble beginnings. High school was rough socially – I was super quiet, awkward, and shy. I was “that girl” / a total social outcast – I didn’t go to prom, and I ate lunch in the library junior and senior year. Ever since I was 15, I was always fascinated with the world of business.
During the challenging times of high school, I would try to look up business owners who were “crushing it” in the business world that had the same high school backstory as myself, and I could not find anyone to look up to as a mentor. It was that moment that I decided I was going to be that person for someone else needing them when I got older. This feeling is the only thing that kept me going during high school.
After college, I got a job selling cars and met my first mentor. She got me started in the fitness industry! I became fully self-employed in 2019 and have never looked back.
My business today in 2023, has evolved into three different “legs” with two separate entities. We have the coaching side (business coaching for people with side hustles and fitness coaching), we have a line of international events, and I just launched a shoe line.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
LOL – I always love this question! Definitely has NOT been smooth – however, I have really learned to love the struggles and challenges along the way. I have done a ton of inner work – I have been on a 1.5-year inner work journey, and that has helped a ton in regard to managing the struggles.
I have had a ton of mental roadblocks – a lot stem from my high school experience, I have learned.
Look – as a business owner; the struggles help you grow. You CAN NOT grow without discomfort. If you remember that and learn to be excited about challenges and look at them as a growth opportunity, you will be just fine!
My top struggle has been the balancing act of cash flow. Running your bank accounts to $0 multiple times in a year can be intense, but it is a very real piece of growing a biz. It is stressful running your bank accounts on fumes, but I have had some magical things happen due to running my bank accounts to $0 – it’s why I launched the events and the shoe line, which are both now growing; I am proud to say.
I was very blessed and was able to build my business to around $50 – $60K / year without any type of “investing” in my business. After that mark, the first thing I did was invest in myself and hired a coach.
Currently, I hover right around the six figures of sales mark per year and am just now investing in a higher-level CRM system.
My #1 piece of advice for someone starting and the most common mistake I see: you do not need a fancy, custom-built $15K CRM software and things like that starting out. You need ORGANIC SALES. This way your business is supporting its expenses instead of you starting out in the hole before you even get your first sale.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Total Boss Wealth and Wellness?
Here at Total Boss, our mission is to ignite your inner Total Boss from the inside out, so you can elevate your business and life quickly while bringing up others around you.
We have a few different things going on here at TB! I am known for helping women step into their confidence and side hustles with confidence. I am a business coach (specializing in people with side hustles), plus we have the fitness side of coaching as well.
We also have a line of Total Boss events in four different cities – one international! We also have a shoe line – our logo is the red high heel, so we have our own branded Total Boss heels and high tops!
I am most proud of creating a brand that is authentic and very aligned with myself, my target audience and team. It has taken a few years of trial and error to really nail down a “brand,” but we are here, and it feels amazing. Once you have your brand dialed in, it makes everything so much easier!
What sets us apart from others – I love that question. I believe it is our energy. Anyone can be a coach and have a line of events (not sure about the shoes, though! I haven’t met anyone else personally with their own shoe line)! Here at Total Boss, we really are passionate about helping others shine from the inside out with confidence – igniting confidence and being okay with the true you is key here – it is the structure/building blocks for the entire TB brand.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
YES! This takes a team; no one can do this alone.
My very first mentor Betsy McNally got me started!
Stacy Raske helped me through my inner work journey and helped launch my business to the next level – I am beyond grateful for her. Stacy taught me so much, but, in one word, she taught me how to be a “boss.” She taught me boundaries, time management, how to run my day and to charge what I am worth. Her company, InFLOWential, is amazing, and I highly recommend.
I am also a member of Apex, the largest and most elite business owner mastermind, led by Ryan Stewman. I am super grateful for Ryan and all that he has created. Getting around the right people in the right groups is key – as an entrepreneur, feeling as if you are on an island all by yourself is a real thing, and Apex helps with that, plus so much more – we do life together. I would highly recommend joining Apex or any of Ryan Stewman’s products.
