Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Mua.
Hi Nina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started with a makeup brush in one hand and a camera in the other. In New York I started a Makeup Artistry Academy, teaching students from all over the world. We grew fast, but I quietly burned out. Years later, I was helping people to get into makeup while my own nervous system was running on empty.
Yoga and sound healing were my reset. I began hosting tiny, phone-free sessions for friends and our team, no perfection, just breath, simple movement, and a few sound crystal bowls. I felt the change immediately: calmer energy, kinder conversations, better focus. When one of our clients asked if I could bring that feeling to their office, Chakra Hours was born.
Today I design experience-led corporate wellness for Dallas-Fort Worth teams: office yoga you can do in work clothes, sound baths, breathwork, and 30-60 minute “Desk Reset” breaks. We set up fast, keep it inclusive and judgment-free, and even offer a silent/headphones option for open offices. Most wellness asks you to download another app; we do the opposite, live, screen-free moments that help people feel better now.
Dallas has this builder spirit I love. We’ve grown one session at a time through word of mouth, local, scrappy, and personal. My mission is simple: help busy people breathe, move, and reset so they can do great work and still have energy for the people they love when they get home. That’s success to me.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a straight line. I shifted from makeup education into corporate wellness with no “big company” track record. A lot of teams hear “wellness” and think it’s another app, a lecture, or 60 minutes on a yoga mat. My first hurdle was proving this could be simple, fast, and for everyone. I started offering short pilots, 30 minutes, in work clothes, no pressure. Let the room decide. That opened doors.
Logistics were next. Offices are noisy, conference rooms are booked, and not everyone wants to lie on the floor. We learned to set up in minutes and created a silent/headphones option for sound baths so open offices can still participate. I built a “Desk Reset” menu that works at chairs and standing desks. Two outlets, small footprint, done.
Procurement was another learning curve, W-9s, COIs, background checks, vendor portals. I built a one-page FAQ for HR/Legal with everything they usually ask for so approvals move quicker.
Skepticism is real. Some people arrive with arms crossed or say “this isn’t for me.” I use plain language (no jargon), offer choices (sit/stand/lie down), and keep everything judgment-free. The moment someone who was doubtful says, “I actually feel different,” the culture shifts.
Personally, my challenge is pace. I’m a mom and a builder; it’s easy to work until midnight. I’ve had to practice what I teach: boundaries, recovery, and sustainable growth over the long haul.
Biggest lessons: design around real constraints (time, space, comfort), meet people where they are, and keep it human. If it isn’t easy to try in under 30 minutes, it won’t stick.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Chakra Hours brings phone-free, experience-led wellness into the Dallas-Fort Worth workday. We design short, live sessions that help busy teams feel better now, not someday after downloading an app.
What we do
• Office Yoga you can do in work clothes
• Sound Baths (with a silent/headphones option for open offices)
• Breathwork + guided meditation
• Desk Reset micro-sessions (30 minutes) built for chairs and standing desks
• One-time events, recurring series, Employee Appreciation Day activations, and onsite retreats; virtual available for hybrid teams
What we’re known for
Simple setups, inclusive language, and judgment-free spaces. We meet people where they are, sit, stand, or lie down. We design around real office constraints (time, space, noise) so participation is easy and no one feels left out.
What sets us apart
Most wellness is another screen or a long lecture. We’re the opposite: real-time, screen-free experiences with practical takeaways people actually use between meetings. We can run in a conference room, break area, or open floor in minutes. For sound work, our silent/headphones option keeps things calm without disrupting the office.
Proud moments
The best feedback is from skeptics who say, “I didn’t think this was for me…and I feel different.” We’ve grown one session, one referral at a time, local, woman-owned, and bootstrapped.
What I want readers to know
You don’t need an hour, a yoga outfit, or a perfect space to reset. Give us 30-45 minutes and we’ll help your team breathe, move, and focus, so they can do great work and still have energy for the people they love when they get home. That’s the heart of Chakra Hours.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The easiest way to work with me is to start small: a 30 minute Desk Reset for your team (chair-friendly breathwork, gentle stretch, short meditation). From there we can book office yoga, sound baths (silent/headphones option for open offices), or a recurring series. We also do Employee Appreciation Day activations, wellness fairs, and onsite retreats. Hybrid and virtual are available.
How to collaborate
• HR / People / Office leads: add Chakra Hours as a vendor for monthly sessions or culture days. I’m fully insured and have a ready packet (W-9, COI, FAQ).
• Venues, hotels, resorts, coworking, event planners: let’s co-host morning “Wellness + Coffee” resets or after-hours sound baths.
• Wellness pros (PTs, therapists, nutritionists, acupuncturists): co-create practical, screen-free workshops for the workplace.
• Headphone/audio brands: sponsor our silent sound baths for open offices.
How people can support
• Make an intro to your HR/Office Manager or invite us for a pilot.
• Leave a short Google review after a session and tag us on socials.
• Gift a session to a teacher team or nonprofit you love, we’ll match discounts when we can.
• Book me for panels/podcasts on phone-free wellness and burnout recovery for creatives and founders.
