Hidden Gems: Meet Obi Eboh of Urban Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Obi Eboh.

Hi Obi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Urban Collective was created from a shared challenge we faced as young professionals in Dallas. 3/5 of our founding members played college football together at Stanford before relocating here, while others connected through working together and tangentially in commercial real estate. As a group, we struggled to find authentic spaces where we could meet other like-minded people/young professionals to genuinely connect and build meaningful relationships with.

Rather than continuing to search for the perfect venue or community, we decided to create it ourselves. Using our relationships with owner-operators in real estate and our ties to Dallas, we began curating the environments that we were looking for – intentional spaces and experiences designed for young people/professionals seeking authentic connections. What started as addressing our own issue evolved into Urban Collective.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think Urban Collective resonated with people and we were able to build a community quickly, but it certainly hasn’t been easy. Creating Urban Collective was a completely new experience for all of us, and it’s required us to navigate many first-time challenges simultaneously.

We’ve had to learn how to create and manage a business with multiple partners, which brings its own unique dynamics and decision-making challenges. We’ve had to develop skills in negotiation, collaboration, creative curation, and continuously evolving our approach to ensure we’re delivering the right experience for our growing community. Each aspect has required us to adapt and grow in ways we hadn’t anticipated, but these challenges have ultimately strengthened both our business, our partnerships, and our friendships.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The members of our group come from distinctly different backgrounds and places, but we’re united by a fundamental shared experience – we all played college football. That common foundation has been instrumental in our ability to work together cohesively, as each of us understands the dedication, discipline, and collaborative effort required to succeed week in and week out. This shared understanding of what it takes to perform and work as a team has translated seamlessly into our current dynamic and has created a strong foundation for us.

Urban Collective has a unique value proposition through our traveling model, where we leverage our relationships with owner-operators to deliver diverse, curated experiences across different venues for our community. We elevate sound, culture, and community, offering curated atmospheres where music becomes the soul and focal point of each gathering. Our offerings have spanned intimate brunches and elevated dinners to dynamic nightlife experiences with the city’s premier DJs, along with community service opportunities. This approach ensures that each gathering feels fresh, authentic, and intentional, while our relationships allow us to access exceptional spaces that give our community access to places they might not have otherwise. As we look towards 2026, we’re excited to expand this concept even further with more innovative experiences that will continue to redefine how young professionals connect and engage in Dallas and beyond.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Dallas is an incredible place to be as a young professional. The city is vibrant and full of exceptional people who embody that genuine Southern hospitality feel. There is incredible food, and no shortage of things to do. What makes our perspective unique is working in commercial real estate – we get a front-row seat to witness and participate in the explosive growth happening right now, and from where we sit, Dallas is just getting started. There are so many exciting developments on the horizon that should have everyone excited, and it feels like we’re running parallel with the trajectory of growth. Dallas continues evolving into a world-class city with a ton of net migration, job growth, and development activity. We’re genuinely excited about what’s to come.

If we had to say anything we disliked, it’s probably the perception Dallas and Texas sometimes receive from people who have never spent meaningful time here or given it a fair chance. Once you actually experience the city, you quickly realize it’s filled with genuinely lovely people, offers an affordable cost of living, and provides an unmatched quality of life where you can truly build something meaningful. The misconceptions fade away pretty quickly when people see what we see every day.
